0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Pedro Meireles! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, William Gold and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Meireles throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Meireles closes the distance and clinches. Weeks taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Weeks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Weeks successfully pulls guard.
Meireles is looking to stand up but Weeks won't let him. Meireles stands up and waves to Weeks to follow him. Weeks blocks a head kick by Meireles.
Weeks shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Meireles pinned against the cage. Meireles gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Meireles throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Pedro Meireles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Weeks moves into the clinch. Weeks is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Meireles gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Weeks is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Meireles is defending well for now. Weeks tries to score a body lock takedown but Meireles shows good agility there to stay on his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bernardo Weeks. That's going to take a lot out of him. Weeks is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Meireles is defending well. Weeks keeps control of Meireles as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Weeks. Meireles tries to break free but Weeks pushes him back against the cage. Weeks lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Weeks wants to take the fight to the mat but Meireles manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Meireles is trying to push Weeks away but Weeks has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Weeks is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Weeks tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Meireles's elbow. Weeks lands a nice elbow. Weeks stalling.
Meireles wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Weeks has him pressed against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Weeks keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Meireles's efforts to push away. Meireles is trying to break free. Meireles prevents a takedown attempt there.
Weeks is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Weeks is breathing heavily. Weeks is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Meireles pulls him back up using the underhooks. Weeks has Meireles pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Meireles manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Weeks keeps control of Meireles as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Meireles wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Weeks has him pressed against the cage. Weeks wants to take the fight to the mat but Meireles manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Meireles is trying to break the clinch but Weeks has him pressed against the cage. Weeks has Meireles pressed against the cage, preventing Meireles from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Weeks prevents the takedown attempt.

Meireles tries to break the clinch but Weeks is controlling the position. A frustrated look appears on Meireles's face as he tries to break the clinch. Weeks changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Meireles fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Meireles misses with a head kick.
Meireles fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Weeks on the side of the head. Meireles stalks Weeks and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Weeks's face. Weeks staggers backwards, shaken.
It looks like Bernardo Weeks has been cut. Weeks showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Meireles.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A combination from Meireles does no damage. The fighters circle momentarily. Meireles darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Meireles throws a series of punches but Weeks moves out of range. Weeks is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Meireles.
Weeks is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Both fighters circle each other, looking for something big. Meireles moves in and throws an overhand right. That hurt Weeks! Meireles continues to tee off on Weeks, landing with a left and a right! Meireles connects with a right hand that leaves Weeks sleeping against the cage! What a finish by Meireles!
