The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Preuss clinches with his opponent.
Preuss gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Coolidge Jr.

We've been hearing reports that Coolidge Jr has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Butch Coolidge Jr. That's going to take a lot out of him. Coolidge Jr is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Preuss pulls him back up using the underhooks. Preuss is defending well against a takedown attempt. Coolidge Jr drops down looking for an ankle pick but Preuss pulls his leg out and moves away.
Preuss darts in and clinches Coolidge Jr up against the cage. Coolidge Jr has Preuss pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Preuss manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Coolidge Jr has picked Preuss up - he's going for a ride! Coolidge Jr dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Preuss can do anything to dispel that myth. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Preuss is looking to improve his position.

Preuss is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Coolidge Jr gets his way!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A bit of a pause in the action here. Coolidge Jr controlling the positon. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Coolidge Jr is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Coolidge Jr has his arm under Preuss's chin here. Game over son! Coolidge Jr squeezes tightly and Preuss is forced to tap out!
