The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Womack Iii jabs Phelps right on the nose. Phelps blinks but takes it well.
Womack Iii scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Phelps looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Phelps throws a big right hand that misses.
Womack Iii trying to control the position.
Womack Iii tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Womack Iii is trying to control the position but Phelps postures up.
Phelps drops back looking for a leg! Womack Iii is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Womack Iii manages to kick Phelps off! Phelps jumps back into Womack Iii's guard.
Womack Iii is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Phelps drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Phelps jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Phelps has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Phelps gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Phelps could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Phelps misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Womack Iii.
Womack Iii lands a nice hook to Phelps's body. Phelps takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Womack Iii scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Phelps doesn't seem bothered though.

Womack Iii changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Phelps tries to counter by clinching up but Womack Iii breaks away and moves out of range.
Womack Iii's corner calls for a 1-2. Womack Iii obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Womack Iii throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Phelps stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Womack Iii checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Womack Iii throws a series of strikes that have Phelps backpedaling.

It looks like Edward Phelps has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Womack Iii stuns Phelps with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Phelps is breathing heavily.
Womack Iii digs a good body shot into Phelps's ribs.

Oh Phelps is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ken Womack Iii is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Womack Iii fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Phelps looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Ken Womack Iii seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Womack Iii measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Phelps! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Ken Womack Iii!
Ken Womack Iii bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
