Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Shane Wilson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Maddox Rayborn! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Glass and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rayborn shoots in looking for a takedown. Wilson tries to sprawl out of it but Rayborn keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wilson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Nice sprawl there from Wilson as Rayborn shoots in. Rayborn showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Wilson.
Wilson misses with a two punch combination.
Wilson is looking to clinch but Rayborn is avoiding it.
Wilson blocks the body kick.
Wilson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Wilson has closed the distance and engaged Rayborn in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wilson lands a takedown into guard.
Wilson lands a couple of decent looking shots. Rayborn wants to stand and escape but Wilson is having none of it. Rayborn utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Rayborn trying to keep a closed guard but Wilson is proving a slippery customer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wilson with a flurry of punches that miss. Wilson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Rayborn looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Wilson trying to control but Rayborn is working from the bottom. Wilson working some strikes from top position. Wilson works over Rayborn with some ground and pound from guard. Rayborn being controlled here, momentarily. Rayborn is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wilson is aware though and is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Wilson is in close to Rayborn's body, working some short punches and elbows. Rayborn looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Wilson puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Wilson sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Rayborn defending well though. Wilson performing his best blanket impression for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rayborn is in trouble now - Wilson has advanced to mount! Wilson content just to control the position here. Wilson unloading with bombs! Wilson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Poor strikes thrown by Wilson there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Wilson wants to finish this one by submission but Rayborn is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Wilson. Wilson looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rayborn is in all sorts of trouble here.
The referee warns Rayborn that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Rayborn is rocked! Wilson tries to control but Rayborn wriggling away. Rayborn is still in real trouble! Can Wilson finish him? Wilson with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Rayborn seems to have recovered his senses. Rayborn is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Wilson tries to control but Rayborn wriggling away. Wilson landing strikes, looking to finish! Wilson breaks from Rayborn's wrist control and lands an elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wilson looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Rayborn covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
