PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Neal Mccall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Connor McCrory (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McCrory is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Tell me da. Neal Mccall has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Neal Mccall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Connor McCrory!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McCrory throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mccall was covering up waiting for the punch and McCrory finishes the takedown easily into guard.
McCrory wants to stand but Mccall has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Mccall is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Mccall tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McCrory stops Mccall from standing up.

Mccall manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

McCrory has clasped his hands together around Mccall's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Mccall tries to bench press McCrory off him but McCrory keeps the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McCrory is looking to take a break and control but Mccall is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
McCrory wants to take a breather but Mccall manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for McCrory.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mccall is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McCrory is controlling him.
Mccall keeping moving, preventing McCrory from controlling successfully.
Mccall really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McCrory passes Mccall's left leg - he's now in half guard.
McCrory is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Mccall manages to get to full guard.

McCrory decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

McCrory feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
McCrory trying to control but Mccall is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

McCrory decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mccall, up you get!
McCrory throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

McCrory fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mccall, pushing him back against the cage.

McCrory breaks the clinch.

McCrory is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mccall's half guard.
Mccall wants to get back to his feet.
McCrory prevents Mccall from improving his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mccall is working hard here to advance position.

Mccall manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Mccall wants to clinch up but McCrory keeps it at a distance.

McCrory drives through with a takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mccall looking for a sweep. Not yet Mccall, not yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mccall has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. McCrory has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

McCrory ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. McCrory no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Connor McCrory will probably get the nod.
That's time! Mccall's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Mccall has taken the fight to the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

McCrory has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Mccall regains guard immediately.

Mccall is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. McCrory presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A head punch on the inside from McCrory fails to land.

Mccall prevents McCrory from breaking the clinch.
A bit of stalling here from McCrory.

McCrory pulls Mccall into guard.
McCrory working a defensive guard but Mccall manages to pass into side control anyway.
McCrory wants to control but Mccall postures up.

Mccall is trying to get an arm triangle but McCrory is defending well.

Mccall tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

McCrory looking for a sweep but Mccall has passed into full mount! Oh no!
McCrory is wriggling around trying to escape.
Mccall content just to control the position here.

Mccall working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Mccall controlling the pace for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Mccall is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But McCrory has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from McCrory!
Mccall is looking to stand up but McCrory isn't so interested in that idea.
McCrory wants to control from the top but Mccall keeps moving.
McCrory tries to free his leg and advance position but Mccall is retaining full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mccall utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
McCrory is pushing down on Mccall's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mccall is fighting to maintain full guard but McCrory has managed to sneak the leg through.

Mccall looking for subs from the bottom but McCrory mounts him!
McCrory controlling his opponent.
McCrory tries to control but Mccall wriggling away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
McCrory throwing strikes but Mccall uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Neal Mccall will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Mccall moves into the clinch.
Mccall stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Mccall is fighting off a takedown attempt but McCrory is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Mccall to the mat. Mccall regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Mccall kicks McCrory off and gets to his feet.
Mccall tries to clinch
and McCrory counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Mccall is lucky that one didn't land flush.

McCrory rushes Mccall and presses him up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McCrory is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Mccall can't fight it off and eventually McCrory manages to take the fight to the floor. Mccall looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
McCrory wants to get up but he can't break Mccall's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Mccall wants to stand but McCrory is controlling the position.
Mccall pulls McCrory in close to his closed guard and prevents McCrory from doing any damage or advancing position.
Mccall wants to get back to his feet but McCrory is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Mccall keeping moving, preventing McCrory from controlling successfully.
McCrory wants to get up but he can't break Mccall's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McCrory throwing strikes from guard but Mccall blocks nicely.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Neal Mccall is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McCrory is looking to slow Mccall down with leg kicks.

Mccall clinches up with McCrory and pushes him back against the cage.
Mccall goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

McCrory jumps guard and drags Mccall to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
McCrory looking to control.

Mccall decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

McCrory fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mccall, pushing him back against the cage.

McCrory breaks from the clinch.

McCrory takes the fight into the clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
McCrory on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

McCrory has picked Mccall up - he's going for a ride! McCrory dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Mccall is trying to stand up here but McCrory is controlling him well.
McCrory wants to stand but Mccall has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McCrory is pressing down on Mccall's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mccall is holding on for now.
McCrory takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
McCrory working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Mccall's thigh. Mccall counters though and makes it back to full guard.
McCrory won't allow Mccall to sweep him here.
Neal Mccall overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

And that's the end of the fight!
Connor McCrory comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think McCrory has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Connor McCrory rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
