Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Christian Catipay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Kennedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chris Kennedy told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Christian Catipay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Kennedy! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Ren Mimura and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Catipay tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Catipay tries to land a front kick but Kennedy steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Catipay thows a leg kick but Kennedy checks it and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Kennedy dips to his left and cracks Catipay with an uppercut! Kennedy ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Catipay tries to clinch and Kennedy counters with a stiff right hand. Catipay misses with a double jab
and Kennedy counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Kennedy slips under a jab from Catipay. Kennedy swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Kennedy lands with a straight right. Catipay didn't see that one coming. Catipay looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Kennedy moves out of range as Catipay throws a body kick.
Catipay changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kennedy tries to avoid it but Catipay manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kennedy to the ground. Kennedy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Kennedy looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Catipay throws a leg kick that is checked and Kennedy counters with a three punch combo that has Catipay backing up. Catipay nods at Kennedy to acknowledge the strikes. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Catipay throws a predictable looking body shot
and Kennedy counters with a stiff right hand. Donk. Kennedy catches Catipay right on the button with a cross.
Catipay is rocked! No joy there for Kennedy, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Oh Catipay is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Kennedy takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Kennedy let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Catipay takes a body punch but keeps moving. Catipay seems to have got his legs back now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kennedy lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Catipay tries to clinch up. A momentary lapse in concentration from Kennedy enables Catipay to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kennedy manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Kennedy preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Catipay is looking to work some ground and pound but Kennedy has wrist control. Catipay landing with the ground and pound. Kennedy controlling the position. Catipay throws a big right hand that misses. Kennedy looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Catipay throws a strike but Kennedy rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Kennedy advances to half guard. Catipay trying to hold on to Kennedy's head to control him but Kennedy postures up.
Kennedy is trying to control the action in half guard but Catipay is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Catipay has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kennedy is working away from the top position though. Kennedy wants to pass to mount but Catipay is defending the position. Catipay is doing well to control the position and prevent Kennedy from advancing to side control. Catipay is looking for a sweep. Kennedy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Catipay on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Catipay tries to get out of the position. Catipay is looking to control Kennedy's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Catipay avoid being mounted? Catipay controlling the position well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kennedy is figuring out what he wants to do next. Catipay is looking to improve his position.
Catipay is trying to control but can't.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Chris Kennedy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Kennedy throws a front kick that sends Catipay stumbling back into the ropes. Kennedy is looking to land body kicks. Catipay misses with a wild combination.
A nice side step and Kennedy releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Catipay throws a half hearted mid kick. Catipay attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kennedy keeps Catipay at a distance using the push kick. Kennedy uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Catipay has time to react. Catipay tries to move into range but Kennedy moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Kennedy keeps the fight on the outside. Kennedy dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Catipay tries to clinch but Kennedy moves away and Kennedy counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Catipay is breathing heavily. Kennedy fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Catipay has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Catipay misses with a hook
and Kennedy counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. No joy there for Kennedy, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Catipay rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kennedy moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Danga de danga de dang - Kennedy scores with a four punch combination! Kennedy lands with a nice body punch. A lazy body kick from Catipay and Kennedy counters with a nice body kick.
Catipay takes a swing at Kennedy's ribcage but misses. Kennedy lands a left and a right that send Catipay crashing to the mat, dazed. Kennedy thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet! The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Catipay walks straight into a right hand from Kennedy - that's dropped him! Kennedy jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Catipay from any more punishment! Catipay complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Chris Kennedy!
