Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bruce Fairweather! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Abramson! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abramson moves into the clinch. Abramson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Abramson manages to end up in side control. Abramson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Abramson cracks Fairweather with an elbow. That is naaassty. Abramson decides to stand back up. Abramson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Fairweather throws a head kick that misses and Abramson counters with a single leg into guard. Fairweather didn't expect that. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Abramson sitting in guard here, content to control. Abramson throwing strikes from guard but Fairweather blocks nicely. Abramson controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Fairweather is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Fairweather stops Abramson from getting back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Abramson is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Abramson tries to roll over but Fairweather keeps him under control. Abramson is trying to stand back up but Fairweather is controlling him
Fairweather is pressing down on Abramson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Abramson is holding on for now. Abramson is looking to escape. Abramson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Abramson gets back to full guard.
Abramson is adopting a defensive guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Fairweather stopping the sweep attempt from Abramson. Fairweather avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Fairweather trying to control the position from guard on top but Abramson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Fairweather throwing strikes but missing.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Abramson has closed the distance and engaged Fairweather in a clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Abramson lands a takedown into guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Abramson looking to sit in guard and control but Fairweather gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Abramson wriggles free and stands up. Abramson clinches. Fairweather wants to break the clinch but can't.
Fairweather is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Abramson is defending well. Abramson pulls guard successfully.
Abramson is looking to stand up but Fairweather isn't so interested in that idea. Abramson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Abramson trying to control the position.
Abramson is striking from the bottom but Fairweather uses the opportunity to pass into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Abramson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Abramson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fairweather is working away from the top position though. Abramson pushes Fairweather off and gets back to his feet. Fairweather scores with a one two! Abramson had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Abramson dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Fairweather throws a series of punches but Abramson avoids them all with ease.
It looks like James Abramson has been cut. Abramson moves into the clinch. Fairweather tries to circle away but Abramson has him pinned against the cage. Fairweather wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Abramson has him pressed against the cage. A body shot lands from Abramson.
Abramson has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Fairweather fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Abramson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Fairweather fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Fairweather closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Abramson explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A solid body kick from Abramson. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Abramson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Abramson wants to work for an arm triangle but Fairweather is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round. Abramson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Fairweather with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Abramson controlling the action here. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Abramson lands a nice short elbow. Nice strikes from Abramson there. Abramson is working for a kimura but Fairweather is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fairweather flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Abramson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Fairweather has managed to free his arm - good work. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Abramson connects with a nice short shot to Fairweather's temple. Fairweather wants to control but Abramson is keeping busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Abramson winds up and cracks Fairweather with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Fairweather wants to control but Abramson is keeping busy.
Abramson slows the pace down in half guard. Abramson decides to stand up. Abramson clinches with his opponent.

Fairweather won't allow Abramson to get back to his feet. Fairweather stopping the sweep attempt from Abramson. Fairweather prevents Abramson from getting back to his feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Fairweather controlling from the top position. Abramson throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Abramson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on James Abramson's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Abramson with a poor takedown and Fairweather counters with a straight punch to the midsection. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Fairweather. Fairweather tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Abramson paws at him with a jab and circles away. Fairweather displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Abramson. Abramson looks for a takedown but Fairweather sprawls well. Bruce Fairweather has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Abramson. A left and a right from Fairweather both land. Nice combination. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Abramson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Fairweather.
Fairweather tries to clinch up but Abramson circles away and keeps his distance. Fairweather tries to keep at a distance but Abramson has taken the fight into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Abramson is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Abramson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Fairweather is struggling to control the position. Fairweather wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Fairweather content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Fairweather lands a left hand that snaps the head of Abramson backwards. Fairweather jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Abramson walks away with a smile on his face. Fairweather gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Fairweather tries to clinch up but Abramson circles away and keeps his distance. Bruce Fairweather is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Fairweather shoots for a takedown but Abramson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Fairweather with a lazy takedown attempt and Abramson counters by moving into the clinch. Fairweather is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Abramson to keep the fight standing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Abramson breaks the clinch.
Fairweather tries a head kick but it misses.
Fairweather gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Abramson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Fairweather is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Abramson, into his guard.
Abramson has his foot on Fairweather's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fairweather works his way back into a safe position though. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Abramson holds on and takes a little breather. Abramson trying to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Abramson scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Abramson clinches up against the cage. Abramson is trying to trip Fairweather. He has hold of a leg but Fairweather is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Abramson persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Fairweather avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Abramson scoring with punches to the head and body. Abramson tries to free his leg and advance position but Fairweather is retaining full guard. Abramson passes Fairweather's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Abramson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Fairweather slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Abramson is looking to work some ground and pound but Fairweather has wrist control. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Abramson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Bruce Fairweather has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! James Abramson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Abramson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
And that's the end of the fight! James Abramson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Abramson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
