Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, War God! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 60 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Todd Tucker! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Igor Prikhodko and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! God has a takedown stuffed. Tucker looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! God keeps the fight on the outside. God tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Tucker defends well and God ends up having to push Tucker into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. God dives in for a single leg takedown but Tucker sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. God looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for War God. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tucker leaves God with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. God darts in looking for a takedown but Tucker gets double underhooks and turns God into the cage. God closes the distance and clinches up with Tucker, looking for a takedown. God pushes Tucker against the cage but Tucker circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tucker shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches God napping and manages to drive through into side control! God is trying to control Tucker's posture but Tucker avoids it. Tucker has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tucker tries to close the distance and clinch up but God swats him away and circles back towards the center. God fails with a takedown attempt. God closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tucker circles away. Horrible takedown attempt by God or perhaps it was just good defense by Tucker, which made it look bad. God shoots in for a takedown but Tucker shows good takedown defense. Tucker lands an overhand right. Tucker shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says God as he avoids it easily. God fails with a takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. God shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tucker sprawls well. Tucker wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. God gets slowly back to his feet. God has a takedown stuffed. Tucker leaves God with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. God shoots in but no luck this time. God darts in looking for a takedown but Tucker gets double underhooks and turns God into the cage. Tucker rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but God moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. God shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Tucker defends it nicely. Tucker tries to clinch but God moves out of range. God shoots in looking for a takedown but Tucker manages to keep the fight standing, pushing God's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Tucker pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. As Tucker tries to get set, God tries to push him back and clinch up but Tucker manages to avoid the attempt. Tucker looking for a takedown here - he's got it. God looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Tucker is defending well. God quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Tucker has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! God celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). War God! Todd Tucker spoke after the fight, saying 'Thank you for this opportunity to fight. There's a really nice bridge near my house, I'm going to jump off it.'.
