Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daniel Ramos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cair Ramirez! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Columbo Gatti and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ramos closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ramirez to the mat! Ramirez manages to get full guard. Ramirez wants to stand but Ramos is controlling the position. Ramirez is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Ramos lands a couple of decent looking shots. Ramos throws a strike but Ramirez rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Ramos on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ramos tries to get out of the position. Ramirez wanted to stand there but Ramos had control of the position. Ramirez is looking to work some ground and pound but Ramos has wrist control. Ramos has his hands on Ramirez's head, controlling the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ramos has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Ramirez is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Ramos. Ramirez tries to stand but Ramos is controlling his head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ramirez tries to advance to mount but Ramos denies him. Ramos keeps Ramirez under control for a moment. Ramirez tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Ramirez tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Ramos tries to bench press Ramirez off him but Ramirez keeps the position. Ramirez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ramirez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Ramirez looks winded! Ramirez sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Ramos is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Ramos tries to improve position but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ramos controls the position for a moment.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Ramos shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Ramos was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Ramos takes a little break here. Ramirez wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Ramos wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ramirez keeps working. Ramos working the head with strikes. We've been hearing that Ramos has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Ramos in side control, just content to control the action for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ramirez managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Ramos.
Ramos remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Ramirez is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Ramos asserts his dominance and retains side control. Ramos landing strikes. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ramos landing strikes. Ramos working the ground and pound. Ramos is working Ramirez over with some ground and pound from side control.
Ramirez is rocked! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Daniel Ramos dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Ramos is looking for a takedown. Wow, that's a brutal slam - Ramirez is in big trouble! Ramos is landing strikes from the mount and this one is all over! The ref jumps in to save a confused looking Ramirez. Poor guy.
