PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brahim Skenderi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brahim Skenderi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael Lee!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Skenderi counters by clinching up.
Lee using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Skenderi prevents Lee from breaking the clinch.
Skenderi tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lee smiles and moves away.
Michael Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Skenderi slips a jab and a cross from Lee.
Skenderi swats away the attempt to clinch by Lee.
Skenderi half committed to a counter leg kick.
Skenderi swats away the attempt to clinch by Lee.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lee.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee tries to clinch there but Skenderi circles away.
Lee tries to close the distance and clinch up but Skenderi swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Skenderi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lee wants to control from the top but Skenderi keeps moving.

Lee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Skenderi looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Lee passes into side control.
Skenderi might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Skenderi is breathing heavily.
Skenderi wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Lee misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Lee is looking to take a break and control but Skenderi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Lee decides to stand back up. Lee steps back and let's Skenderi get back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Brahim Skenderi will probably get the nod.

Lee throws a series of punches but Skenderi avoids them all with ease.
Lee tries to clinch up but Skenderi circles away and keeps his distance.

Skenderi manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Lee on his heels. He'll look to pass Lee's guard now, I'm sure.

Skenderi is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Lee is defending well though. Skenderi let's go of the attempt for now.

Skenderi swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Lee is now in Skenderi's guard. A big mistake from Skenderi there, giving up the dominant position!

Lee wants to lay and pray for a moment but Skenderi keeps working.
Lee prevents Skenderi from improving his position.
Lee is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Skenderi wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving.

Lee throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Skenderi is looking to counter the offense by Lee and move into the clinch.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lee wants to improve his position but Skenderi is controlling well.

Lee tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Skenderi manages to move to mount!
Skenderi avoids the attempt from Lee to control.
Skenderi controlling the position easily from mount.
Lee can't escape the position.

Skenderi looking to secure an arm triangle but Lee defends it well.
Lee tries to lock up and control but Skenderi gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Lee might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Skenderi haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lee is wriggling around trying to escape.
Lee is still trying to improve position.
You get the feeling that Lee really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Lee tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Skenderi scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Lee tries to hold on but Skenderi postures up.

Lee is desperately trying to improve his position but Skenderi has a good base and remains in mount.
Michael Lee has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Brahim Skenderi is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Lee throwing hammer fists to the chest of Skenderi. What's that going to do exactly?

Brahim Skenderi showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Skenderi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
