Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Woody May!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 14 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Avery McCurnin!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Illya Tyunina and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCurnin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? May is fending him off so far but McCurnin persists. Nope, May circles away and we're back to standing.

McCurnin ducks straight into an uppercut from May and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - McCurnin manages to regain guard straight away.


McCurnin is rocked!
May will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

May decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
McCurnin is still on wobbly legs! Can May finish him?
May chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McCurnin moves in looking to clinch but May pushes him off.
McCurnin seems to have recovered his senses.

May closes the distance and clinches.
McCurnin fails to pull guard.
Our sources have told us that May has been working on his elbows in the gym.
McCurnin jumps guard but May stands there with McCurnin around his waist. McCurnin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Woody May has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Avery McCurnin.
McCurnin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. May smiles and moves away.

May has McCurnin up against the cage in a clinch.

McCurnin drops to a knee looking for a takedown but May gets the underhooks and prevents it.
May struggles to land a body shot inside as McCurnin controls his hands.
McCurnin with an attempt at a knee that misses.
May unloads a knee to the mid-section. McCurnin lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
May blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
McCurnin misses with a short punch on the inside.
May digs a right hand into McCurnin's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on McCurnin's gas tank.
McCurnin wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

May can't find room to land a body shot as McCurnin controls the action.

May decides to pull guard.
May has McCurnin pulled in close to control his posture.
May looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
May pulls McCurnin in close to prevent any damage.
McCurnin throwing strikes from guard but May blocks nicely.

May has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. McCurnin is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
McCurnin tries to break the clinch but May is controlling the position.
McCurnin has had enough of the clinch but May keeps him there for the moment.

May drags the fight down to the ground.
May seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
McCurnin wants to control from the top but May keeps moving.
May has his hands on McCurnin's head, controlling the position.

May continues to stall.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McCurnin wants to get up but he can't break May's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



May shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
May looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
McCurnin is looking for a sweep. May is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

May decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McCurnin tries to clinch but May moves out of range.

McCurnin tries to keep at a distance but May has taken the fight into the clinch.
May's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
McCurnin tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. May just stands there and leans against the cage.

May avoiding damage.
McCurnin misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from May.
May misses with a punch to the body.
McCurnin managing to block the knees to the body from May.
McCurnin looking to throw knees to the head but May is blocking nicely.
May digs a right hand into McCurnin's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on McCurnin's gas tank.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
A frustrated look appears on McCurnin's face as he tries to break the clinch.
McCurnin has had enough of the clinch but May keeps him there for the moment.
McCurnin throws a punch but it's blocked by May.

McCurnin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

May darts in and clinches McCurnin up against the cage.

May appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

May closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

May lands a body shot.
McCurnin struggles to land a body shot inside as May controls his hands.
McCurnin is trying to drag May to the mat but May just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Woody May has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Avery McCurnin.
May prevents the takedown attempt.
McCurnin takes a knee right on the jaw!
McCurnin is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

McCurnin wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but May has him pressed against the cage.
Woody May has scored more points in the clinch so far.
McCurnin pushes May back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

May has hold of one of McCurnin's legs. McCurnin is fighting the takedown attempt but May gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

May gets to his feet. McCurnin looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
May connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
May misses with an uppercut.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

May takes the fight into the clinch.
McCurnin takes an elbow to the temple.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Woody May dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


May thuds his shin into the meat of McCurnin's side.
McCurnin doesn't manage to clinch there - May circles away.

May gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A nice glancing elbow lands by May.
May has McCurnin pressed against the cage, preventing McCurnin from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
McCurnin misses with a hook from the clinch.
McCurnin goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

May's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
May tries to clinch up but McCurnin circles away and keeps his distance.
Avery McCurnin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McCurnin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

May bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops McCurnin! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
This has been an exciting period of action!

May stands up from guard. Let's bang!

May shoots in for a takedown. Oh, that's a huge slam! McCurnin is on queer street and May is pounding down on him with a barage of strikes. The ref is forced to step in and stop the fight. Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:07 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Woody May!
After winning the bout, Woody May thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
