Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael Ancuro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Moff Brighton! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brighton on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Brighton closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Brighton lands in his opponent's guard. Brighton's corner is telling him to maintain position. Ancuro wants to stand up but Brighton is controlling him. Brighton looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Ancuro trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Brighton working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Brighton sitting in guard, not really doing much. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brighton decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ancuro, up you get! Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Ancuro. Brighton shrugs it off though. Ancuro throws a combination that misses and Brighton counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brighton throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Ancuro blocks it with crossed arms. Ancuro can't break the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Ancuro's face as he tries to break the clinch. Ancuro has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Ancuro working hard to break the clinch. Brighton tries to work over Ancuro's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Ancuro can't break the clinch.
Ancuro is trying to break free. Ancuro wants to break the clinch but can't.
Brighton lands a left hand.
It looks like Michael Ancuro has been cut. Ancuro tries to circle away but Brighton has him pinned against the cage. A body shot lands from Brighton.
Brighton drags the fight down to the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brighton pulls Ancuro in to control the position. Brighton has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Ancuro should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Brighton has tightened it up now! Ancuro should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Moff Brighton! In defeat, Michael Ancuro stepped up to the mic, saying 'He got the better of me, fair play. I can't wait to see him try it a second time. I'll be ready, and waiting.'.
