19 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cosmo Carboni! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Mauricio Rocha and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wha looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Wha misses with a few strikes there.
Carboni drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Wha defends it well. Carboni darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Wha goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Carboni doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Bleh Wha seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wha lands with a nice body punch. Carboni scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Wha gets in close and instigates a clinch. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Carboni takes a shot to the head. Carboni blocks a body shot from Wha. Wha swings wildly with an uppercut but Carboni uses good head movement to avoid it. Wha misses with a punch to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wha presses Carboni against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Wha tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Come on Wha - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Wha lands with a short head shot on the inside.
It looks like Cosmo Carboni has been cut. Wha manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
A shot in the inside from Wha. Wha softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Carboni has had enough of the clinch but Wha keeps him there for the moment. A frustrated look appears on Carboni's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Wha unloads a knee to the mid-section. Carboni lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Carboni is trying to break free. Wha stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Carboni keeps the fight on the outside. It seemed like Carboni was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Both fighters circling a little - Wha finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Wha lands with a kick to the temple. Carboni shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Carboni swings for the body but Wha moves out of range.
Carboni tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Wha was well out of range. Poor timing from Carboni. Wha dodges the punch combination from Carboni.
Wha lands a big head kick that sends Carboni tumbling to the mat! Wha takes a step backwards and waves Carboni back to his feet - he wants the finish! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Carboni keeps the fight on the outside. Carboni swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Carboni avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Despite the aggression on Carboni's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Wha with a jab.
That has opened up Cosmo Carboni's cut even more. Wha misses with a combination
and Carboni cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wha misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wha tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Carboni manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Carboni wants to counter the offense by Wha and move into the clinch position. Wha thuds his right hand into Carboni's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Carboni showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Wha.
Wha rushes Carboni and presses him up against the cage. Wha misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Carboni.
Wha content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Wha is struggling to control the position. Wha leaning his opponent against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carboni's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Bleh Wha is winning the standup battle so far. Wha connects with a body shot that sends Carboni's belly button to the back. Carboni swings for the body but Wha moves out of range.
Wha seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Wha looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Carboni scores with a nice strike. Wha wants to clinch. Carboni throws a head kick that misses. Wha tries to close the distance and clinch but Carboni swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wha throws a head kick that misses. Carboni takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Wha wants to clinch. Wha lets loose with a powerful body kick. Carboni will feel that in the morning. Wha connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Nice shot by Wha. Carboni avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

The cut above Cosmo Carboni's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Carboni throws the left hand but Wha avoids the punch easily. Wha thinks about countering with a body kick. Carboni throws a series of punches but Wha moves out of range. No joy there for Wha, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Carboni misses with an uppercut. Wha saw that one coming. Wha was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Wha lands a body shot.

Bleh Wha dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Cosmo Carboni's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
A punch combination from Wha misses. Carboni throws a big shot that misses. Wha punishes Carboni's body with a nice straight punch. A looping hook to the body misses from Carboni. Wha does a little dance to reset his feet. Wha tries to clinch there but Carboni circles away.

Carboni goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carboni has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Wha. Carboni takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Wha gets in close and instigates a clinch. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Wha obliges. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Wha lands a body shot in the clinch.

Wha lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Carboni backwards. Wha landing some nice looking knees to the body.

Wha has Carboni pressed against the cage, preventing Carboni from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Wha scores with a shoulder strike. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wha tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Carboni avoids it. Wha is struggling to control the position. Carboni wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Wha is looking to wear down Carboni with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Wha rushes Carboni and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Wha stalling in the clinch.
Carboni is trying to break the clinch but Wha is controlling him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. That's two minutes gone in the round. Wha blocks a jab. Wha ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Carboni tries to keep at a distance but Wha has taken the fight into the clinch. Carboni tries to stall but Wha uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Carboni being controlled against the cage. The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Wha for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure. Wha stalling.
