PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Benny Breese (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oscar Wilde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Benny Breese!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Oscar Wilde!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Breese looking to score a takedown here. Wilde is defending well but Breese drives through and ends up in Wilde's guard.
Breese is stalling in the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Breese lands a couple of elbows.
Wilde is looking to stand up but Breese isn't so interested in that idea.
Breese trying to control but Wilde is working from the bottom.

Breese drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wilde looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wilde looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wilde!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Breese can't do much from the bottom here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wilde decides to stand back up.
Wilde wants to clinch.

Breese has closed the distance and engaged Wilde in a clinch.
Breese prevents Wilde from breaking the clinch.

Breese jumps guard and drags Wilde to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wilde throws an elbow that misses. Breese uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Wilde's guard. Nice move by Breese!

Breese stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wilde swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Wilde wants to stand up but Breese is controlling him.

Wilde pushes Breese off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Oscar Wilde is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wilde wants to clinch.
Breese misses with a takedown attempt
and Wilde counters with a two punch combo.
Wilde tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Breese counters with a single leg into guard. Wilde didn't expect that.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wilde keeping moving, preventing Breese from controlling successfully.
Breese is in close to Wilde's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Breese trying to control the position from guard on top but Wilde is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wilde is trying to control the position but Breese postures up.
Breese works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Breese is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Breese stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wilde closes the distance looking to clinch

and Breese counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Wilde looking for a guillotine here but Breese defends easily.
Breese wants to control from the top but Wilde keeps moving.
Breese tries to free his leg and advance position but Wilde is retaining full guard.
Wilde wants to stand but Breese is controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Benny Breese dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Wilde tries to clinch but Breese is having none of it.
Breese swats away the attempt to clinch by Wilde.
Breese circles away from the clinch attempt.
Breese keeps the fight on the outside.
Wilde tries to clinch up.
Wilde moves in looking to clinch but Breese pushes him off.

Breese fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Wilde sprawls well initially but Breese persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Wilde has hold of Breese's hands but Breese slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Breese looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wilde with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Wilde is refusing to be controlled, as Breese sits in half guard.
Wilde is trying to stand up here but Breese is controlling him well.

Wilde scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Breese manages to mount him!
Breese trying to control but Wilde is having none of it.
Breese lands with some strikes.
Wilde really wants to buck Breese off and get back to his feet.
Breese looking to control but Wilde is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Breese is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Wilde is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Breese cracks Wilde with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Breese connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Wilde tries to improve his position but instead Breese has taken his back!

Breese has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Wilde is defending well but eventually Breese manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Wilde has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Benny Breese!
