PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lord Sake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Vardey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vardey comes into a darkened arena with his song building. savior kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Ryan Vardey is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lord Sake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryan Vardey!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vardey changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sake looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Sake looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Sake struggling a bit here.
Sake is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Sake definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Vardey postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Vardey is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Vardey decides to stand back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sake shoots and misses
and Vardey counters with a two punch combo.
Sake with a poor takedown
and Vardey counters with a nice uppercut.

Vardey feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Vardey is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Let's hope that Vardey has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sake is looking to regain half guard here but Vardey keeps moving and retains side control.

Vardey has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

and Vardey counters with a flying knee. Nice.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lord Sake. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Vardey dives in and scores a takedown into Sake's guard.

Vardey not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Sake is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Vardey is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Vardey keeps control of the position as Sake tries to break free.

Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Tokyo inform us that Vardey has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

I really don't envy Sake right now.
Lord Sake has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Vardey has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
