Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gunnar Steigelmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julien Touret (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Touret has chosen La Valse d'Amelie as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

22 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julien Touret! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Touret throws a shot from downtown. Steigelmann moves away and avoids it. Steigelmann just misses with a punch to the body.

Steigelmann throws a shot from downtown. Touret moves away and avoids it. Touret takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Touret checks the leg kick. We've been informed that Touret has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Touret misses with a leg kick. Touret ducks under a wild hook from Steigelmann. Steigelmann takes a swing at Touret's ribcage but misses. Touret wants to counter with a clinch but Steigelmann pushes him away. Touret uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Steigelmann. Touret takes a shot to the body in his stride.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Touret missing with a left hand there. Steigelmann was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. The crowd cheers as Touret lands an impressive looking overhand right. Steigelmann doesn't seem phased though.
It looks like Gunnar Steigelmann has been cut. Steigelmann lunges at Touret with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Touret's hand. Touret steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Steigelmann. That one must have hurt. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Touret connects with a high kick. Gunnar Steigelmann seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice uppercut lands for Touret. That snapped Steigelmann's head back.
Touret throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Steigelmann on the side of the head. Steigelmann cracks Touret with a big right hand and Touret goes down!
It looks like Julien Touret has been cut. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Steigelmann slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Steigelmann trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Steigelmann seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Steigelmann has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Touret shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Touret keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A telegraphed right hand from Touret misses the target. Steigelmann pulls out of a head kick attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Touret displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Steigelmann throws out the jab. Touret tries to counter with a clinch but Steigelmann shakes him off and moves away. Steigelmann walks into a left hand. Steigelmann misses with a body shot.
Steigelmann throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Touret steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Steigelmann. Steigelmann misses with a wild body shot. Touret tries to counter by closing the distance. Steigelmann finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

and Steigelmann counters with a big right hand! Oh Touret is in trouble here! Steigelmann follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
