Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Herman Gutierrez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes to the ring accompanied by Collie Buddz - Come Around. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Herman Gutierrez! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Jones wants to clinch up but Gutierrez keeps it at a distance. Jones closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Jones trying to control the position but Gutierrez is working away. Gutierrez tries to buck Jones off but Jones is having none of it. Gutierrez is not content to let Jones control the position. Jones is really struggling to control Gutierrez but he's trying to hold on to the position. Gutierrez is looking to regain half guard here but Jones keeps moving and retains side control. Jones cracks Gutierrez with a big right hand but Gutierrez just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

That's one minute gone in the round. Gutierrez is not content to let Jones control the position. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Gutierrez tries to improve position but can't. Jones trying to control the position but Gutierrez is working away. Gutierrez is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Gutierrez looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Jones scores with a jab to the body. Gutierrez looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones feints and as Gutierrez raises his hands in defense, Jones changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Gutierrez isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Jones stacks Gutierrez on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Jones! Jones is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gutierrez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Gutierrez is trying to get back to half guard. Gutierrez sneaks back into half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jones throwing shots but Gutierrez is blocking nicely. Gutierrez actively working from the bottom here. Jones is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Gutierrez has managed to free his arm - good work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marcus Jones dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Jones. Gutierrez shrugs it off though. Jones closes the distance and clinches up with Gutierrez, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes Gutierrez against the ropes but Gutierrez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Gutierrez takes a kick to the side of the head. Jab, jab by Jones - just one landing.
It looks like Herman Gutierrez has been cut. Jones misses with a wild combination.

Gutierrez fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jones goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Jones tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Jones misses with a takedown and Gutierrez counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Jones had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Gutierrez is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Jones Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Gutierrez's back instead. Gutierrez tries to escape but Jones has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Gutierrez turns into Jones and is now in his guard.

Jones is looking for a triangle but Gutierrez pushes his legs off easily.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Jones tries to clinch and Gutierrez counters with a single leg into guard. Jones didn't expect that. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Marcus Jones dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Herman Gutierrez's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Gutierrez shoots in for a double leg but Jones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Marcus Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones misses with a takedown attempt so Gutierrez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Gutierrez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Jones is trying to keep Gutierrez in close.
Gutierrez passes into half guard. Jones moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Gutierrez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gutierrez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Gutierrez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gutierrez has gone for a leg lock! Jones slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gutierrez's guard. Gutierrez has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Jones is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Gutierrez. Jones is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gutierrez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Gutierrez regains half guard. Jones trying to control from half guard but Gutierrez is working away. Jones seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gutierrez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Jones shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jones showed some decent athleticism there. A close third round but Herman Gutierrez just about did enough to take it. The cut man is working on Herman Gutierrez's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
The crowd cheers as Jones lands an impressive looking overhand right. Gutierrez doesn't seem phased though. Gutierrez dodges the punch combination from Jones.

That's one minute gone in the round. Jones tries for a kimura but Gutierrez is defending well. It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over. Gutierrez tries to buck Jones off but Jones is having none of it. Jones thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Gutierrez sneaks back into half guard. Gutierrez looking for submissions off his back. Gutierrez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Jones uses his free foot to push down on Gutierrez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gutierrez. Gutierrez looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! I really don't envy Gutierrez right now.
Herman Gutierrez has got the better of the ground game so far. Gutierrez is keeping busy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jones is trying to stick to Gutierrez's back but Gutierrez is turning into Jones. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Jones's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Gutierrez. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

It's a sloppy attempt though and Gutierrez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Gutierrez postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jones is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gutierrez, into his guard. Gutierrez is looking for a triangle but Jones pushes his legs off easily.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Gutierrez keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
