PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Northwood Freinster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the ring it seems that Jack James has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jack James seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Northwood Freinster!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James throws a body kick that misses.
Freinster takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Freinster drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Freinster slows the pace down.
I looks like Freinster might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
James is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Freinster moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James wants to get back to his feet but Freinster drags him back down.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
James is breathing heavily.
Freinster is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down James's shoulder. That is not cool.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Despite being in the dominant position, Northwood Freinster just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Freinster feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
James is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
James keeping moving, preventing Freinster from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Northwood Freinster dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


James tries for a takedown but Freinster circles away easily

and Freinster counters with a single leg into guard. James didn't expect that.
Freinster is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Freinster wants to pass the guard but James is keeping the position.
James not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Freinster looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
James wants to stand but Freinster is controlling the position.

Freinster wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.
Freinster content to stall in guard here.
James is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
James fails with the takedown

and Freinster counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for James!

Let's hope that Freinster has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Northwood Freinster showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.



Freinster drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Freinster controlling from the top position.
James keeping moving, preventing Freinster from controlling successfully.
Freinster stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. James swivels though and keeps the full guard.

James wriggles free and stands up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James misses with a double jab

and Freinster counters with a takedown into side control.
James can't do much from the bottom here.
James is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Freinster asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Freinster controls the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James tries to get back to half guard but can't.
James is letting Freinster control him for a moment.
James is trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Northwood Freinster really dominated that round.
That's time! James's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


James doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Freinster makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. James really felt that one!
James closes the distance looking to clinch

and Freinster counters with a nice double leg into side control. James won't be happy with that.
Freinster happy to just control the position for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
James wants to stand but Freinster is controlling the position.
Freinster controls from within his opponent's guard.

James pushes Freinster off and scrambles back to his feet.
James darts in trying to clinch

and Freinster counters by moving into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Northwood Freinster dominated that fourth round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


James misses with a combination

and Freinster counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for James!
Freinster wants to control the pace but James is squirming around nicely.
Freinster tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Freinster looking to control but James is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

James is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Freinster wants to control the pace but James is squirming around nicely.
Freinster controlling from the full mount.
James sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
James is trying to stand back up but Freinster is controlling him
James is pressing down on Freinster's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Freinster is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

James is edging up against the ropes. He's using the ropes to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

And that's the end of the fight!
Northwood Freinster comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Freinster winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
