Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Atlas Kivi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michal Tarnowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kivi kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Metallica - Ride the Lightning. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
31 - 22 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Atlas Kivi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
51 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michal Tarnowski! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Paul Tew and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kivi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kivi throws a right and a left that Tarnowski avoids nicely. Tarnowski shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kivi pinned against the cage. Kivi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Tarnowski fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Kivi is out of range. Kivi swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Kivi throws a jab when Tarnowski was well out of range. Kivi lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kivi lands with a thumping leg kick.
Kivi throws a lazy right hand but Tarnowski sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Kivi jabs at Tarnowski's body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kivi connects with a looping right hand.
Atlas Kivi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Tarnowski keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kivi. Kivi misses with a looping left. Tarnowski drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Kivi defends it well. Kivi cracks the inside of Tarnowski's front leg. Kivi looks to land a right hand but Tarnowski moved out of range. And Tarnowski tries to counter it with a takedown but Kivi pushes his down on his head and steps out. Kivi misses with a lunging right hand
and Tarnowski counters with a shoot takedown. Kivi fights it but they end up in guard. Kivi is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Kivi keeping moving, preventing Tarnowski from controlling successfully. My spies in Thunder MMA inform me that Tarnowski has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Kivi is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Kivi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tarnowski gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tarnowski sitting in guard, not really doing much. Kivi has his foot on Tarnowski's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tarnowski works his way back into a safe position though. Kivi keeping moving, preventing Tarnowski from controlling successfully. Tarnowski pushing down on Kivi's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Tarnowski is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kivi has managed to free his arm - good work. Tarnowski seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kivi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tarnowski tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kivi knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Kivi is looking to improve his position.

Tarnowski has isolated one of Kivi's arms. Kivi looking to fight him off but Tarnowski twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Michal Tarnowski! Michal Tarnowski tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
