Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Crisp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, PJ Penn!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crisp misses with a series of wild punches.
Crisp misses the jab.
Crisp fails to land with a series of punches.
Crisp looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Penn throws a one two combo.
Penn misses with a wild body shot.
Crisp throws a left and a right that both miss
enabling Penn to counter with a crisp jab.
Crisp misses with a looping right.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Crisp misses with a wild combination.

and Penn counters with a one-two to the body.

Penn showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
I looks like Penn might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Penn makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Penn sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Crisp's guard.
Penn has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Crisp is trying to stand back up but Penn is controlling him

Crisp wants to control but Penn is keeping busy.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Penn connects with a nice short shot to Crisp's temple.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Penn slips a nice elbow through Crisp's hands, connecting with Crisp's forehead.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Penn lands a nice short elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

PJ Penn dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

Crisp throws a big shot that misses.

and Penn holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Crisp wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Penn prevents Crisp from breaking the clinch.
Crisp takes a shot to the head.
Crisp wants to break the clinch but can't.
Crisp wants to break free but Penn has control.
Penn is stalling here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Penn has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Crisp uses from the top position.
Penn manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Crisp manages to get himself to full guard.
Penn is pushing down on Crisp's leg trying to pass to half guard. Crisp is fighting to maintain full guard but Penn has managed to sneak the leg through.

Crisp is looking to escape.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Penn passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Crisp!

Penn lands a big shot there that rocks Crisp but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Penn putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Crisp swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
A nice elbow there by Penn.
Crisp tries to lock up and control but Penn gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Penn takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Penn punishing his opponent with strikes.
Crisp is trying desperately to improve position.
Penn lands a big shot there that rocks Crisp but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Penn with shots to the head and body - Crisp looks very uncomfortable down there.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Crisp wants to hold on but Penn pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

PJ Penn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Crisp swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Penn tries a head kick but it misses.
Crisp looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Penn dodges the punch combination from Crisp.
Crisp throws the left hand but Penn avoids the punch easily.

Penn scores a takedown into full mount!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Penn lands with some strikes.
Penn has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Crisp's face.


Crisp is rocked!
Penn unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Crisp wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Penn celebrates on the ropes and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). PJ Penn!
