Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christian Battle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Esau Pepson! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pepson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Battle is trying to defend but Pepson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Battle is in trouble now - Pepson has advanced to mount! Pepson working the ground and pound effectively.
Pepson raining down shots from the mount! Pepson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Battle to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Battle shrugs it off. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pepson with good strikes from the mount here! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pepson lands a couple of good shots and Battle has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Battle is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Pepson lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Battle hold on?!
That's one minute gone in the round. Pepson is landing with strikes. Battle can't take much more of this. Pepson is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Battle knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Battle for a finish. Pepson looking for the rear naked choke. And he's got it! Battle taps!
