PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tono Tres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Djin Kvasir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Djin Kvasir will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tono Tres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Djin Kvasir!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Phil Schofield and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kvasir shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kvasir showed some decent athleticism there.

Kvasir is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Tres sees it coming and defends easily.
Tres regains full guard. Nicely done.

Kvasir postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Tres is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kvasir, into his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tres got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kvasir has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tres has managed to get both his arms back between Kvasir's legs - danger averted.
Kvasir preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kvasir isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Tres stacks Kvasir on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Tres!
Tres wants to stand but Kvasir has his arm trapped.
Kvasir tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Tres working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Kvasir really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tres. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Tres tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Tres is staying tight to Kvasir's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Tres tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tres has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Kvasir wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Tres has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Kvasir's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Kvasir is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Tres!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Tono Tres!
In defeat, Djin Kvasir stepped up to the mic, saying 'next time is the time'.
