Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mike Nuts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chief Sperry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Mike Nuts has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Nuts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chief Sperry!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Steve Montenegro and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Nuts, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nuts scores with a jab to the body.
Sperry dodges the punch combination from Nuts.

Sperry shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Sperry landing with the ground and pound.
Sperry slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Let's hope that Sperry has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Nuts really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sperry postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Sperry has gone for a leg lock! Nuts slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sperry's guard.

Nuts throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Sperry fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Nuts to the ground. Sperry is now in Nuts's guard.

Nuts manages to escape and get back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nuts showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sperry.
Nuts paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Sperry closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Sperry landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Nuts tries to roll over but Sperry keeps him under control.
Sperry thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nuts's head.

Sperry looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nuts with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sperry lands a nice short elbow.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nuts's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sperry working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Nuts turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Sperry off and cradles Nuts's limp body as Sperry celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Chief Sperry!
