PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Guillermo Penderas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Valchek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Joe Valchek was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Guillermo Penderas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joe Valchek!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valchek wants to clinch up but Penderas keeps it at a distance.
Penderas keeps the fight on the outside.
Penderas scores with a crisp jab that stopped Valchek in his tracks.
Valchek is looking to clinch.
Nice sprawl there from Penderas as Valchek shoots in.
Penderas bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Valchek! He dives into his guard looking to finish!


Valchek is rocked!


It looks like Joe Valchek has been cut.
Valchek keeping full guard, as Penderas tries to pass.
Valchek is still in real trouble! Can Penderas finish him?

Penderas is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Valchek seems to have recovered his senses.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Penderas's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Valchek is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Valchek throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Valchek wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Penderas working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Valchek is trying to keep Penderas in close.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Penderas tries to stand but Valchek is controlling from the bottom.
Valchek controlling Penderas's posture.
Penderas has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Valchek is proving hard to escape from.

Valchek escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Penderas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A slapping leg kick lands for Penderas.
Penderas misses with a looping right.
Penderas lands with a cross.
Penderas lands a big shot that drops Valchek! Can he finish him?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Penderas is looking to work some ground and pound but Valchek has wrist control.

Penderas drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Penderas jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Penderas connects with a couple of short punches.
Penderas wants to control from the top but Valchek keeps moving.
Penderas wants to stand but Valchek is controlling his posture from full guard.
Penderas throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Valchek works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Penderas stands and steps away. Valchek gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
A head kick misses from Valchek.
Valchek uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Penderas.
Guillermo Penderas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Penderas lands with a straight right. Valchek didn't see that one coming.
Guillermo Penderas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Valchek checks a leg kick nicely.
Penderas throws a shot from downtown. Valchek moves away and avoids it.
Penderas misses with a straight right.
Valchek shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Valchek walks into a straight right hand from Penderas.
Penderas misses with a body shot.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Penderas misses with an uppercut. Valchek saw that one coming.

Penderas is breathing heavily.
A swing and a miss from Penderas.
Valchek shoots in but no luck this time.
Guillermo Penderas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Valchek.
Valchek throws a head kick that misses.
Valchek fails with a takedown attempt.
Penderas throws a lazy right hand but Valchek sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Penderas listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Valchek walks into a stiff left hand from Penderas.
Penderas swats away the attempt to clinch by Valchek.
Valchek has a takedown stuffed.
Penderas drops Valchek with a big left hand! Valchek is injured, injured bad! Penderas jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Guillermo Penderas!
