1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Willie Salazar! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz tries to land a leg kick but Salazar saw it coming and moves away.
Diaz scores with a hook to the body. Salazar takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Diaz lands with a hook. Salazar tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Diaz listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Salazar throws a series of punches but Diaz moves out of range. Diaz wants to land a leg kick but Salazar is out of range. Diaz lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Salazar looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Diaz! Diaz avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Salazar. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Diaz manages to get to full guard.

Sloppy strikes from Salazar. Those never looked like landing. Diaz dips to his left and cracks Salazar with an uppercut! Salazar has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Diaz finds it's way round the side to connect with Salazar's head. Diaz lands with an uppercut that bounces Salazar off the cage and back into range. Diaz connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Salazar swinging wildly here.
We've been informed that Salazar has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Diaz lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A jab from Diaz does it's job there.

Diaz's jab looks to have found its range, popping Salazar under the eye. Salazar misses with an uppercut. Salazar on the wrong end of a nice hook. Diaz misses with a straight left. Salazar steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Diaz. Diaz circles away from the clinch attempt.

We've been told by Diaz's head coaches at Team Alpha Success that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Diaz has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Salazar gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Eulogy Diaz dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Diaz is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Diaz is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Salazar can do to turn this around? Nice shot lands for Diaz. Diaz avoids a punch combination nicely.

Diaz shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Diaz misses with a right hand and Salazar counters with a nice uppercut. Diaz dodges the punch combination from Salazar.
Diaz wants to slow Salazar down by chopping away at his legs. Diaz connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Salazar momentarily.
Diaz stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Diaz throws the left hand but Salazar avoids the punch easily. Salazar shoots for a double leg takedown but Diaz sprawls well. He's pushed Salazar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Eulogy Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Salazar shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Salazar has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Diaz finds it's way round the side to connect with Salazar's head. Diaz fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Salazar has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Salazar is breathing heavily. Diaz misses with a looping left. Salazar lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Salazar needs to keep his hands up - Diaz had a free shot at his head there. Diaz punishes Salazar's body with a nice straight punch. Salazar moves in looking to clinch but Diaz pushes him off. Diaz lands with a cross. Diaz scores with a hook to the body. Salazar takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Salazar takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Diaz lands a glancing blow to the side of Salazar's head.
Salazar is rocked! Diaz lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Salazar is still on wobbly legs! Can Diaz finish him? Jab from Diaz.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz scores with a punch to the head. Nice straight punches there by Diaz. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Diaz. Diaz throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Diaz scoring well with a low kick there.
Diaz attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Despite the aggression on Salazar's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Salazar lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Diaz circles away quickly and effectively. Salazar gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Salazar with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Diaz to score with a decent uppercut. Diaz lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Salazar at a distance.
Diaz getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Diaz throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Salazar sees it coming and avoids it easily. Salazar takes a jab right on the kisser.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Diaz with a nice cross.

Diaz throws out a loose jab but Salazar uses good head movement to avoid it. Despite the aggression on Salazar's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. A shot to the liver by Diaz. Beautiful body shot. Willie Salazar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Diaz connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Diaz pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Diaz lands a leg kick that knocks Salazar off balance momentarily. Salazar tries to clinch but Diaz moves out of range. Diaz throws a low kick but it's checked well by Salazar. Salazar seems to have recovered his senses. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Diaz throws a hook but Salazar blocks it. A head kick misses from Salazar. Salazar gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Salazar takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Diaz turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Salazar takes one on the button. Salazar looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Diaz connects with a nice looking jab.

Salazar let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Salazar throws a nice looking combination but Diaz bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Salazar blocks a head kick by Diaz.
Diaz bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Salazar's head. Salazar does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Salazar gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Diaz throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Salazar on the side of the head. The crowd cheers as Diaz lands an impressive looking overhand right. Salazar doesn't seem phased though. Diaz circles away from the clinch attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Salazar momentarily.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Salazar closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Diaz's guard. Salazar takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Diaz avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Salazar stopping the sweep attempt from Diaz. Salazar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Diaz keeping moving, preventing Salazar from controlling successfully. Diaz keeping full guard, as Salazar tries to pass. Diaz lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Diaz in particular looking to stall. Diaz trying to mount his opponent but Salazar defends it. Diaz is figuring out what he wants to do next.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Salazar tries to roll over but Diaz keeps him under control. Salazar pushes Diaz off looking to stand but Diaz dives back in and keeps control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Diaz moves nicely into side control. Willie Salazar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Diaz avoids the strikes from the bottom by Salazar.
And that's the end of the fight! Eulogy Diaz showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Diaz, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
