Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lanny Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Cri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frank Cri looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lanny Simmons! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Frank Cri! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Simmons closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Cri quickly recovers to half guard. Cri looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Cri has hold of Simmons's hands but Simmons slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Simmons missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Cri is trying to control but can't.
Simmons throwing shots but Cri is blocking nicely. Simmons is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cri is just riding it out for now. Simmons eventually gives up the hold. Simmons stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Cri to get to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Simmons gets caught flat footed, as Cri shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Simmons is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cri is controlling him. Cri preventing the sweep. Cri got a little sloppy there for a moment and Simmons has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cri has managed to get both his arms back between Simmons's legs - danger averted. Simmons wants to sweep but no luck. Simmons is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Simmons is looking for a triangle but Cri pushes his legs off easily.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Simmons looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Simmons feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Simmons is in close to Cri's body, working some short punches and elbows. Simmons landing some decent shots from guard. Simmons postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Cri looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Simmons working some strikes from top position. Cri working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Simmons. Simmons loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Simmons postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Simmons chips away with some ground and pound. Simmons has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Cri not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Lanny Simmons dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Simmons changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cri looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Simmons thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Simmons working the head and body with strikes. Cri defending against the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cri takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Simmons really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Simmons cracks Cri with an elbow. That is naaassty. Cri is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simmons stands up and beckons Cri to his feet. Simmons drives through with a takedown into Cri's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Simmons throws a big right hand that misses. Simmons postures up.
Simmons landing some decent shots from guard. Simmons is looking to work some ground and pound but Cri has wrist control. Simmons throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cri works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Simmons's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Simmons postures up in Cri's guard and throws a big left but Cri blocks it. Simmons throws a big elbow that misses. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Simmons is working Cri over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Simmons throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Simmons stands up and waves to Cri to follow him. Simmons fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cri sprawls well initially but Simmons persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Simmons connects with a nice short shot to Cri's temple. Cri is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Simmons missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Cri wants to get back to full guard. Cri tries to kick Simmons off but Simmons keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Simmons is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Simmons not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Simmons lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Cri keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Simmons lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Simmons wants to work for an arm triangle but Cri is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Simmons content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Frank Cri has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Simmons chips away with some ground and pound. Lanny Simmons is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Cri had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Simmons defends it easily.
And that's the end of the fight! Lanny Simmons showed his dominance in that final round. Well Simmons has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
