Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ching Ching! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shaun Stephens! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stephens ducks under a wild hook from Ching. Ching lands a really nice looking cross but Stephens seems unphased.
Ching swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. A punch combination from Ching misses. Ching throws a hook but Stephens blocks it. Ching throws a big shot that misses. Ching throws a body punch but Stephens moves out of range. Stephens changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Ching misses with a head kick.
And Stephens tries to counter it with a takedown but Ching pushes his down on his head and steps out. Ching lands a leg kick that knocks Stephens off balance momentarily. Ching gets off balance looking for a body kick and Stephens decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ching's guard. Stephens tries to free his leg and advance position but Ching is retaining full guard. Ching on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ching tries to get out of the position. Stephens loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Ching is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
We've been hearing that Ching has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Stephens is defending against the submission attempts here by Ching.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stephens with the active half guard here but Ching passes nicely into side control. Ching tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Ching wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Stephens, who protects the arm well. Ching controls the position. Ching doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Stephens. Ching is looking to improve his position.

Ching has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Stephens throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Ching lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Ching's corner is telling him to maintain position. Ching has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Ching trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Ching lands a couple of digs. Ching knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stephens on the ground. Stephens controls Ching momentarily but Ching frees himself. Ching controlling from the top position. Ching chips away with some ground and pound. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ching sitting in guard here, content to control. Ching landing with the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ching cracks the inside of Stephens's front leg. Stephens misses with a takedown and Stephens takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Ching will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ching connects with the punch. Ching is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Stephens can do to turn this around? We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ching throws a big shot that misses. Stephens with the counter takedown but Ching avoids it easily. Stephens moves out of range of the strikes. Stephens looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Ching defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Stephens. Ching pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ching throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Ching Ching is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Stephens misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Ching Ching has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shaun Stephens. Ching misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ching misses with a looping right. Stephens tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Stephens dodges the punch combination from Ching.

Ching Ching is winning the standup battle so far. Stephens slips under a jab from Ching. A looping hook to the body misses from Ching. Stephens does a little dance to reset his feet. Stephens feints the counter takedown. Ching looks to score with a jab to the body but Stephens is just out of range. Stephens tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Ching throws a head kick but Stephens moves out of range.
Stephens steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ching. Stephens drops his hands momentarily and Ching takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. This has been an exciting period of action! Donk. Ching catches Stephens right on the button with a cross. Stephens throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ching was covering up waiting for the punch and Stephens finishes the takedown easily into guard. Stephens trying to control but Ching is working from the bottom. Ching controlling Stephens's posture.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ching wants to sweep but no luck. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Stephens trying to control the position from guard on top but Ching is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ching has his foot on Stephens's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stephens works his way back into a safe position though. Ching bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stephens's guard.
Ching Ching overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Ching scoring with some ground and pound. Stephens looking for a guillotine here but Ching defends easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Ching is trying to control but can't.

Stephens is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Ching sees it coming and defends easily. Ching is looking to improve his position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ching moves into full guard.
Shaun Stephens has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ching Ching is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Ching escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stephens gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that's the end of the fight! Ching Ching showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ching, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
