Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charles Lundgren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martez Cortega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Charles Lundgren! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Martez Cortega! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cortega lands with a kick to the temple. Lundgren shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Cortega is looking to clinch but Lundgren is avoiding it.
Lundgren lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Lundgren. Cortega swinging wildly here.
As Cortega looks to move away, Lundgren throws a big counter combo but Cortega just gets out of the way. Cortega shoots for a double leg takedown but Lundgren sprawls well. He's pushed Cortega's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Cortega takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Lundgren throws a series of punches but Cortega avoids them all with ease. Lundgren misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lundgren scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Lundgren cracks Cortega with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cortega closes the distance and clinches. Lundgren lands an uppercut. Cortega blocks a body shot from Lundgren. Lundgren avoiding damage.
Lundgren lands with a light punch inside.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cortega pulls Lundgren into guard.
Lundgren is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Abobomination Training $800 13 LEGIT elite coaches that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Lundgren content to stall in guard here. Lundgren postures up.
Cortega is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Lundgren slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Lundgren has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Cortega escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lundgren gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lundgren's corner is telling him to maintain position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lundgren trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Cortega is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Cortega throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Cortega escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lundgren gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Lundgren works a leg free and moves into half guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lundgren stops Cortega from getting back to his feet.
Lundgren takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Lundgren is pressing down on Cortega's thigh, looking to free his foot. Cortega is holding on for now. Cortega tries to get to full guard but Lundgren has control of the leg. Lundgren seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Cortega is looking for a sweep. Lundgren is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lundgren lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Lundgren throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Cortega shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lundgren keeps the fight on the outside. Lundgren will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Cortega tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Lundgren defends well and Cortega ends up having to push Lundgren into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Charles Lundgren has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Martez Cortega. Lundgren works the jab nicely. Lundgren misses the shot to the body. Lundgren sets himself, and Cortega steps forward looking for the clinch! Lundgren avoids it this time. Lundgren throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A head kick by Cortega misses and Lundgren counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Lundgren throws a right and a left that both miss. Cortega tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lundgren paws at him with a jab and circles away. Cortega dodges the punch combination from Lundgren.
Cortega takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Cortega is rocked! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Charles Lundgren dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Cortega rushes Lundgren and presses him up against the cage. Cortega is working for takedown but Lundgren is calmly controlling the position for now. Cortega is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lundgren pulls him back up using the underhooks. Lundgren throws a punch but it's blocked by Cortega. Lundgren being controlled against the cage. Cortega blocks an uppercut.
Lundgren misses with a hook to the ribs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cortega is trying to push Lundgren away but Lundgren has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Cortega avoiding damage as Lundgren throws knees to the body.
Lundgren lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Cortega or not. Lundgren is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cortega has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Lundgren uses from the top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lundgren postures up in Cortega's guard and throws a big left but Cortega blocks it. Lundgren trying to control the position from guard on top but Cortega is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lundgren is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Cortega has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lundgren can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Cortega trying to keep a closed guard but Lundgren is proving a slippery customer.
Lundgren throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cortega works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Lundgren controlling from the top position. Cortega has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Lundgren should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Cortega has tightened it up now! Lundgren should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
