Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cavan Cartwright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cartwright comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Irish Fighting Song kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
13 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Chris Palmer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cavan Cartwright!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Josh West and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palmer lands the left hand.
Cartwright gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Palmer pushes Cartwright back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Palmer misses with the head strike.
Cartwright throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Cartwright jumps guard and drags Palmer to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Palmer works over Cartwright with some ground and pound from guard.
Palmer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cartwright working for a triangle but Palmer defends it easily.
Cartwright working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Palmer doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Palmer manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Cartwright is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Palmer's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Palmer's back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cartwright is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Palmer has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Palmer is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Cartwright is trying to stick to Palmer's back but Palmer is turning into Cartwright. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Cartwright's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Palmer.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Palmer misses with an attempted mid kick.
Cartwright throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Palmer's waist but Palmer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cartwright off to one side.
Cartwright uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Palmer.
Palmer tries to land a leg kick but Cartwright saw it coming and moves away.

Cartwright looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Palmer is fending him off so far but Cartwright persists. Nope, Palmer circles away and we're back to standing.
Cartwright shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Palmer sprawls well. Palmer wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cartwright gets slowly back to his feet.

Palmer fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Cartwright.
Cartwright tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Palmer defends well and Cartwright ends up having to push Palmer into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Cartwright closes this distance looking for a takedown but Palmer circles away.
Cavan Cartwright is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Palmer dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Cartwright. That did some damage!
Palmer feints and then cracks Cartwright's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Cartwright down.
Cartwright fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Palmer avoids it really well and circles away.
Palmer dives in and scores a takedown into Cartwright's guard.

Palmer is working Cartwright over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Palmer got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cartwright has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Palmer has managed to get both his arms back between Cartwright's legs - danger averted.
