PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Michael Gornik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quinn Ravage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Gornik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Quinn Ravage!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gornik fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
No luck for Ravage with that takedown attempt.
Gornik throws a nice looking combination but Ravage bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Ravage is looking to chop away at Gornik's legs.
Gornik is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Gornik throws a sloppy head kick and Ravage moves out of range easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ravage takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Gornik goes for a double leg but Ravage avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ravage continues to drive forward.
Ravage tries to land a leg kick but Gornik saw it coming and moves away.

Ravage avoids the head kick by Gornik.
Gornik changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ravage tries to avoid it but Gornik manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ravage to the ground. Ravage escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ravage throws out a counter right but Gornik avoids it with no problem.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Gornik. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gornik misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Gornik tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ravage swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ravage lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Gornik lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Gornik drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Ravage is pushing Gornik's head away, looking to escape. Gornik manages to hold on to the position though.

Gornik wants to take a breather but Ravage manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Gornik.

Gornik gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Gornik shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ravage but Ravage pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Gornik tries for a takedown but Ravage sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gornik tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ravage swivels and escapes.
Gornik is breathing heavily.

Ravage moves into range and clinches up with Gornik.
Ravage is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Gornik pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Ravage is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Gornik has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Ravage is trying to keep an underhook but Gornik manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Ravage is trying to stand.
Gornik throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Ravage to regain full guard.

Gornik drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ravage dives on top into guard.

Ravage thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Ravage has gone for a leg lock! Gornik slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ravage's guard.

Ravage wants to stand but Gornik is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ravage keeping moving, preventing Gornik from controlling successfully.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Michael Gornik will probably get the nod.
That's time! Gornik's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Gornik throws a left and a right that both miss
and Ravage makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Gornik really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ravage misses with a double jab
and Gornik counters with a two punch combo.
Gornik has his takedown stuffed
and Ravage counters with a low kick, right behind Gornik 's knee.
Gornik tries to close the distance and clinch but Ravage swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ravage throws a big counter head kick but Gornik avoids it with no problem.

Ravage gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Ravage drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Gornik gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Ravage shoots in looking for a takedown but Gornik manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ravage's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Gornik throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Ravage chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Ravage rushes Gornik and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Ravage keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Gornik's efforts to push away.
Ravage wants a takedown.
Ravage wants to take the fight to the mat but Gornik manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Ravage lands a takedown into guard.
Ravage passes Gornik's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Ravage is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Ravage is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Ravage is trying to work for a kimura but Gornik is defending well.

Ravage is looking for submissions but instead, Gornik has regained full guard.

Ravage drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gornik manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ravage has Gornik in his guard.

Ravage is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Quinn Ravage showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Gornik shoots in for a takedown but Ravage shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Gornik shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gornik showed some decent athleticism there.
Gornik is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Gornik is stalling here. Ravage is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Gornik seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Ravage has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Gornik pushes Ravage away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ravage gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Ravage wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gornik, who protects the arm well.
Gornik prevents Ravage from improving position.

Ravage goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Gornik has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ravage but great work by Gornik.

Ravage is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Gornik has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Gornik tries to move into full mount but can't pass Ravage's legs.

Gornik wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Ravage uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Ravage has a closed guard, preventing Gornik from standing up.

Ravage pushes Gornik off and gets back to his feet.

Ravage lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Ravage wants a takedown but no success here.

Quinn Ravage comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ravage has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Quinn Ravage opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
