Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frederick Knox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jordan Mayer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frederick Knox! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jordan Mayer! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Eddie Farnsworth and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knox shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mayer defends it nicely. Knox changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mayer tries to avoid it but Knox manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mayer to the ground. Mayer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Knox goes for a double leg but Mayer avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mayer continues to drive forward. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frederick Knox. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mayer tries to keep at a distance but Knox has taken the fight into the clinch. Mayer ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mayer no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mayer controlling the position. Knox trying to control but Mayer is working from the bottom. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mayer holds on and takes a little breather.

My spies in Midnight MMA inform me that Mayer has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Mayer not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Knox is trying to escape the position but Mayer is controlling the position. Mayer's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Let's hope that Mayer has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
