PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sam Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Bruce Lee was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sam Alexander!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bruce Lee!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Ren Mimura and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Alexander defends it nicely.
Alexander is looking to counter the offense by Lee and move into the clinch.
Lee darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Alexander throws a hook but Lee avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alexander leaves Lee with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Lee closes the distance and clinches.

Lee jumps guard and drags Alexander to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Lee managing to control the position.
Alexander throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Lee utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Alexander is fighting to break Lee's control of his arms but Lee is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Lee is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Alexander is aware though and is defending well.
Lee is striking from the bottom but Alexander uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
Lee keeps control of the position for the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lee wants to get back to full guard but Alexander has passed into side control.
Lee tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Lee sneaks back into half guard.
Lee is trying to maintain the position but Alexander is very close to passing his half guard.

Lee is controlling Alexander's trapped leg to prevent Alexander from advancing to side control.
The fighters are battling for position here. Lee manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Lee avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Lee wants to stand and escape but Alexander is having none of it.

Lee is looking for a triangle but Alexander pushes his legs off easily.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Lee goes for a double leg but Alexander avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Alexander continues to drive forward.
Alexander tries to counter with a takedown but Lee is quick to defend against it.
Sam Alexander has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruce Lee.
Alexander throws a body punch but Lee moves out of range.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Lee has taken the fight to the clinch.
Lee wants to break free but Alexander has control.
Lee lands a shot to the body.
Alexander fails to pull guard.
Lee wants a takedown.
Alexander keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Lee's efforts to push away.
Lee is trying to force a seperation but Alexander has the dominant position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Alexander jumps guard but Lee stands there with Alexander around his waist. Alexander gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Alexander tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Lee just stands there and leans against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Lee dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Sam Alexander's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Lee fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lee shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Alexander pinned against the cage. Alexander gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Alexander was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Lee defending well as Alexander loads up on a big left hand.
Alexander misses with a hook
and Lee counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Alexander thinking.
Alexander keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Alexander feinted with a counter takedown.

Lee tries to break the clinch but Alexander is controlling the position.
Alexander tries to pull guard but Lee holds him up against the cage and eventually Alexander drops back down to his feet.
Alexander tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Lee has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Alexander avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Alexander wriggles free and stands up.
Lee darts in looking for a takedown but Alexander gets double underhooks and turns Lee into the cage.
A counter left hand to the body from Alexander misses its target.
Lee is breathing heavily.
Alexander slaps away a takedown attempt from Lee, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Lee moves into the clinch.
Alexander goes for a takedown attempt but Lee pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Alexander misses with a body kick.

Lee clinches up against the cage.

Alexander ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Alexander no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Lee is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Lee missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Lee is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Alexander is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lee defends well.
Alexander wants to get back to his feet but Lee is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
