PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chris Karter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Prathamesh Randhawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Randhawa is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Shelter - Message of the Bhagavat. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Karter!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Prathamesh Randhawa!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Felipe Paraventi and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karter misses with a series of wild punches.
And Randhawa tries to counter it with a takedown but Karter pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Karter cracks Randhawa with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Randhawa walks into a left hand.
Randhawa doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A clash of legs there as Randhawa blocks the low kick.
Karter getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Karter stuffs the takedown.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Karter scores with a jab to the body.
Nice uppercut lands for Karter. That snapped Randhawa's head back.
Randhawa fails with the takedown.
Karter was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Randhawa closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Randhawa is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Karter still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Karter has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Randhawa is looking to reverse the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Karter is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Randhawa will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Randhawa manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Randhawa wants to free his trapped foot but Karter is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Randhawa passes to full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Randhawa wants to take his opponent's back but Karter doesn't allow it.
Karter really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Randhawa jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Karter is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Karter and Randhawa has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Randhawa working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Randhawa tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Randhawa has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Randhawa is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Karter has escaped the position, nice work there.
Randhawa has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at A Hero's Journey: MMA Academy. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Randhawa goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Karter rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Randhawa's guard! Nice work there by Karter!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Karter slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Karter dominated that round.

Karter misses with a body shot.
Karter connects with a solid leg kick.
Nice uppercut there from Karter.
Randhawa with a lazy takedown attempt
and Karter counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Randhawa is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Karter stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Prathamesh Randhawa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Randhawa checks a leg kick nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Randhawa is rocked!
Chris Karter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Karter ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Randhawa's jaw. Randhawa's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Karter does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Chris Karter!

A victorious Chris Karter thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
Prathamesh Randhawa spoke after the fight, saying 'Every one looking downwards becomes impressed with ideas of his own greatness; but looking upwards, feels his own littleness.'.
