Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edison Arantes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva has chosen Cult Of Personality as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mario Silva was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Edison Arantes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mario Silva! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Arantes shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Silva's guard. Silva looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Silva wants to sweep but no luck. Arantes content to stall in guard here. Silva working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Arantes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Arantes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Silva is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva working for a triangle but Arantes defends it easily.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Arantes got a little sloppy there for a moment and Silva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Arantes has managed to get both his arms back between Silva's legs - danger averted.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Arantes scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
It looks like Mario Silva has been cut.

Silva gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Arantes to score an easy takedown into full guard. Silva is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Arantes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Silva looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! Arantes does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Silva takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Arantes thuds a left hand into Silva's body. Arantes closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Arantes lands in his opponent's guard. Silva working for a triangle but Arantes defends it easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva is trying to keep Arantes in close.

Silva can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Arantes controls the pace. Arantes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. We've been told by Arantes's head coaches at Animal House that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Arantes misses with a low kick.
Arantes scores with a decent looking hook. Some bone on bone action there as Silva checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Arantes misses with a low kick.

Arantes looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Silva! Silva wants to get back to his feet but Arantes is dominant here and he's now got Silva's back! Edison Arantes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Arantes controls the action. Arantes not allowing Silva to control his hands. Silva is trying to get back to his feet but Arantes has full control of the position and if anything, Silva has just worked his way into a worse spot. Arantes has the hooks in. Silva is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Silva trying to control the hands but Arantes won't let him. Silva is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Arantes is staying active. Mario Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Silva is trying to get back to his feet but Arantes has full control of the position and if anything, Silva has just worked his way into a worse spot. Arantes controlling from the back. I really don't envy Silva right now.
