PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bastyn Dall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roberto Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dall comes to the cage accompanied by Beast. Rodriguez has chosen Dan Balan Beautiful Girl as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bastyn Dall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roberto Rodriguez!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Jonathan Paton and Lou da Vinci.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez shoots in looking for a takedown. Dall tries to sprawl out of it but Rodriguez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dall manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rodriguez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rodriguez blocks a head kick by Dall.
Dall throws a nice outside leg kick.
Rodriguez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
A looping hook to the body misses from Dall. Rodriguez does a little dance to reset his feet.
Dall throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rodriguez goes for a double leg but Dall avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Dall continues to drive forward.
Dall appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Bastyn Dall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roberto Rodriguez.
Rodriguez tries for a takedown but Dall sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rodriguez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Rodriguez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Rodriguez is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Rodriguez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Dall escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rodriguez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rodriguez works over Dall with some ground and pound from guard.
Dall is trying to control the position but Rodriguez postures up.
Rodriguez working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Dall's head.
Dall lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

A close round but Roberto Rodriguez will probably get the nod.

Rodriguez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dall swivels and escapes.
Rodriguez tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Dall defends well and Rodriguez ends up having to push Dall into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Dall went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Dall misses with a leg kick.
Dall throws a wild body kick that Rodriguez sees coming a mile off.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Dall enables Rodriguez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Dall manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Dall has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Rodriguez has passed into side control.

Rodriguez is looking to take a break and control but Dall is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Dall tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Rodriguez has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Rodriguez is landing with some decent strikes but Dall is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Roberto Rodriguez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Dall tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Rodriguez manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Dall on his heels. He'll look to pass Dall's guard now, I'm sure.

Dall is looking for a triangle but Rodriguez pushes his legs off easily.

Rodriguez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dall swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dall seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Dall is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Rodriguez rolls with it to try and escape but Dall cranks on the arm and Rodriguez is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
