The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thoreson moves into the clinch.
Thoreson is leaning against Bowen and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Bowen misses with some punches.
A nice right hand lands inside from Thoreson.

It looks like Makebono Bowen has been cut.
Thoreson lands a body shot in the clinch.
Bowen looks winded!

Thoreson jumps into guard, dragging Bowen to the mat.

Thoreson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bowen is one step ahead there.
Thoreson is pulling down on Bowen's head to control his posture.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bowen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Thoreson is proving hard to escape from.

Thoreson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Bowen off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Thoreson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thoreson scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Thoreson is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Bowen wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

The cut above Makebono Bowen's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Bowen is trying to stand.
Bowen felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thoreson lands a big shot to the head and Bowen winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
