Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Armand Miranda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Miranda sprawls well initially but Thompson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Miranda is looking for a sweep. Thompson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Thompson wants to pass the guard but Miranda is defending well.
Thompson trying to control from half guard but Miranda is working away.
Miranda wants to improve his position but Thompson is controlling well.
Miranda keeping hold of Thompson's head, controlling as best he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Thompson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Miranda is just riding it out for now. Thompson eventually gives up the hold.

Miranda tries to roll over but Thompson keeps him under control.

Thompson is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Thompson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Miranda knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Thompson is looking for a kimura but Miranda is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Thompson to get the leverage.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Miranda misses with a few strikes there.
Thompson wants to clinch.
Thompson looking to score a takedown here. Miranda is defending well but Thompson drives through and ends up in Miranda's guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Miranda has a closed guard, preventing Thompson from standing up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Miranda is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
John Thompson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Miranda wants to finish this one by submission but Thompson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Miranda.

Miranda has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Thompson's face.

Miranda lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Thompson tries to kick Miranda off but Miranda keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Miranda is trying to work for a kimura but Thompson is defending well.

Thompson wants to get back to full guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Armand Miranda will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Miranda tries to score a power double leg takedown but Thompson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Miranda somewhat.
Thompson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Miranda quickly recovers to half guard.

Thompson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Miranda swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Thompson wants to control from the top but Miranda keeps moving.

Thompson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Miranda has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thompson has managed to get both his arms back between Miranda's legs - danger averted.
Thompson throws an elbow that misses. Miranda uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Thompson's guard. Nice move by Miranda!
Thompson controls Miranda momentarily but Miranda frees himself.
Miranda is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Thompson is adopting a defensive guard.

Thompson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Miranda connects with a couple of short punches.
Miranda wants to get up but he can't break Thompson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Thompson is looking to control Miranda's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Thompson avoid being mounted?
Miranda is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Thompson wants to control but Miranda is keeping busy.
Miranda is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Thompson defends it well.
Thompson has a hand on Miranda's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Miranda takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
