Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Murpy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Gauthier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murpy comes into the arena with Victory blaring out of the sound system. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Murpy is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gauthier. Gauthier misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Murpy throws a series of punches but Gauthier moves out of range. Murpy closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Murpy lands in his opponent's guard. Murpy works over Gauthier with some ground and pound from guard. Murpy preventing the sweep. Murpy trying to control the position from guard on top but Gauthier is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gauthier avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Murpy sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gauthier's guard. Murpy trying to control the action but Gauthier is working from the bottom. Gauthier is looking to control Murpy's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gauthier avoid being mounted? Murpy drops an elbow to the side of Gauthier's head.

Murpy is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Gauthier has managed to free his arm - good work. Murpy throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Gauthier is looking to control Murpy's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gauthier avoid being mounted? Gauthier is defending against the submission attempts here by Murpy.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Murpy not landing any meaningful shots this time.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Murpy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Murpy ducks under a wild hook from Gauthier. Gauthier gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Murpy makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Gauthier changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Murpy looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Murpy is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Murpy is trying to control but can't.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Gauthier with a lazy takedown attempt and Murpy counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Charlie Murpy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Gauthier. Gauthier looks gassed! Gauthier misses with a kick to the body.
Gauthier walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Gauthier misses with a takedown and Murpy counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Murpy rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gauthier moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Gauthier gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Murpy counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gauthier won't be happy with that.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gauthier prevents Murpy from improving position. Murpy scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Gauthier to see if he's OK. Murpy creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Murpy is working Gauthier over with some ground and pound from side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Murpy wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gauthier, who protects the arm well. Gauthier is not in a great position here, taking some shots. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Murpy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gauthier keeps working. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Murpy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Murpy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Murpy trying to control the position but Gauthier is working away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Charlie Murpy dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Murpy connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Gauthier's hands. A telegraphed right hand from Gauthier misses the target. Gauthier scores with a kick to the midsection. Gauthier gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Murpy counters with a takedown into side control. Gauthier is trying to buck Murpy off. Gauthier defending against the ground and pound. Murpy controls the position from side control. Gauthier regains half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Murpy winds up and cracks Gauthier with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Murpy is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Gauthier has managed to free his arm - good work. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Murpy is looking to take a break and control but Gauthier is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Murpy with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Gauthier is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Murpy's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Murpy's back! I really don't envy Murpy right now.
Gauthier is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Murpy is defending well though. Gauthier let's go of the attempt for now. Murpy is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Gauthier gets his way!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gauthier avoiding Murpy 's attempts to control his hands. Murpy rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Murpy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Gauthier wants to pass the guard but Murpy is defending well. Murpy is pressing down on Gauthier's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Murpy escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gauthier gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Gauthier preventing the sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Murpy is looking for a triangle but Gauthier pushes his legs off easily.
Gauthier takes a decent strike to the side of the head. Gauthier passes Murpy's left leg - he's now in half guard. Murpy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Charlie Murpy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Murpy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Gauthier looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Murpy gets full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Gauthier stands up and waves to Murpy to follow him. Murpy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Nice jab there from Murpy. Gauthier gets caught flat footed, as Murpy shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Gauthier is looking for a triangle but Murpy pushes his legs off easily.
Murpy drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gauthier looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gauthier looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gauthier! Murpy manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Murpy moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Gauthier must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Gauthier with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Murpy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gauthier's guard.

Gauthier knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Murpy is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Murpy takes a swing at Gauthier's ribcage but misses. Murpy throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gauthier sees it coming and avoids it easily. Murpy moves out of range of the body kick. Murpy misses with a combination

He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gauthier works his way back into a safe position though. Murpy controls Gauthier momentarily but Gauthier frees himself. That's four minutes gone in the round. Gauthier throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Murpy works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Gauthier working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Murpy is on top in guard.
Murpy trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Murpy throws and elbow that misses. Gauthier uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Murpy's guard. Nice move by Gauthier! Charlie Murpy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Murpy is looking to sweep but instead, Gauthier has passed into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Alexander Gauthier. Well Murpy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
