PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Markus Landfill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Unstable Roark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Landfill comes to the cage accompanied by Pretty tied up. Roark is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Cult of personality. Unstable Roark will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Markus Landfill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Unstable Roark!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Patrick Alders and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Landfill misses.
Roark tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Landfill manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Landfill tries to counter with a takedown but Roark is quick to defend against it.
Landfill is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Roark connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Roark connects with a single shot there.
Roark throws a head kick but Landfill moves out of range.
Landfill half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Roark takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Roark fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Roark tries to close the distance and clinch but Landfill swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Roark thows a leg kick but Landfill checks it

and Landfill counters with a shoot takedown. Roark fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Roark looking to hit a scissor sweep but Landfill is one step ahead there.
Landfill might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Landfill lands a couple of elbows.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Landfill is looking to work some ground and pound but Roark has wrist control.
Landfill trying to control the position from guard on top but Roark is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roark working a defensive guard here.
Roark has momentary wrist control but Landfill slips an elbow through the middle.
Landfill throwing strikes but missing.
Landfill is pushing down on Roark's leg trying to pass to half guard. Roark is fighting to maintain full guard but Landfill has managed to sneak the leg through.
Roark has hold of Landfill's hands but Landfill slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Landfill missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Landfill has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Landfill throwing shots but Roark is blocking nicely.
Roark avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Landfill.
Landfill thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Roark's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Roark tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Landfill has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Landfill missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Landfill thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Roark's head.
Roark is looking for a sweep. Landfill is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Landfill misses with a head shot. Roark uses the momentum to regain guard.
Landfill throws a strike but Roark rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Landfill looking for a guillotine here but Roark defends easily.
Landfill trying to keep a closed guard but Roark is proving a slippery customer.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Roark trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Roark trying to control but Landfill is working from the bottom.

Roark got a little sloppy there for a moment and Landfill has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Roark has managed to get both his arms back between Landfill's legs - danger averted.

Landfill is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Roark looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Landfill escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Roark gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Roark scoring with punches to the head and body.
Landfill is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Roark trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Roark in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Roark seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Markus Landfill will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Landfill avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Landfill throwing a counter right hand but Roark manages to avoid it.
Landfill swats away the attempt to clinch by Roark.
It looked like Landfill wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Landfill chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Roark can pounce on him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Landfill looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Landfill takes one on the button.


Landfill is rocked!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Roark throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Landfill is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Unstable Roark!
After the big win, Unstable Roark made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors *NEW* Revolution Clothing and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
Markus Landfill was interviewed post fight and said 'Lesson learned,I will come back stronger next time'.
