The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitaker Jr misses with a right hand
and Newman counters with a nice leg kick.
Newman has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Newman throws a push kick but Whitaker Jr slaps the foot to one side.
Whitaker Jr scores with a crisp jab that stopped Newman in his tracks.
Whitaker Jr attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Newman takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Whitaker Jr definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Newman moves out of range as Whitaker Jr strikes.
A head kick from Newman lands but Whitaker Jr takes it in his stride.

Newman lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
A low kick from Newman is predictable there
and Whitaker Jr counters with a solid body kick.
Whitaker Jr thows a left - swing and a miss!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Whitaker Jr connects with a high kick.
It looks like Paul Newman has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Whitaker Jr tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Whitaker Jr throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Newman is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!
