Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
32 - 64 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jaromir Jag! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gaudencio Roman! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roman drives through and clinches with Jag against the cage.
Jag misses with a hook to the ribs.
Jag struggles to land a body shot inside as Roman controls his hands.
A body shot lands from Roman.
Roman lands a shoulder strike. Roman keeps control of Jag as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Jag is looking to control Roman's arms but Roman gets an underhook and turns him. Now Jag has his back to the cage. Jag stalling in the clinch but Roman improves position. Jag tries to land knees in the clinch but Roman avoids the damage to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Roman working some nice short punches in the clinch. Roman lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. A short right from Roman on the inside. Roman pushes off an throws an elbow but Jag leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jag is looking to break free of the clinch but Roman has double underhooks. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Roman obliges. Roman prevents a body shot from Jag. Roman lands with a short shot to the head. Roman gets through Jag's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Roman working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Roman's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Roman paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Roman jabs Jag right on the nose. Jag blinks but takes it well.
Jag is rocked! Jag clinches with his opponent.
Oh Jag is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Jag pushes off an throws an elbow but Roman leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Roman goes for a takedown attempt but Jag pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Roman connects with a nasty looking knee right to Jag's face.

Jag is trying to maintain a safe position but Roman gets an underhook and turns Jag into the cage. Jag is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Roman is defending well for now. Jag takes a knee to the side of the body. Roman is trying to trip Jag. He has hold of a leg but Jag is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Roman persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Jag wants to stand up but Roman is controlling him. Jag seems to have got his legs back now. Roman trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Roman scoring with some ground and pound. Jag seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Roman won't allow Jag to get back to his feet. Roman postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Roman prevents Jag from getting back to his feet. Roman controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Roman connects with a couple of short punches. Jag is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roman controls from within his opponent's guard. Roman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Roman prevents Jag from getting back to his feet. Jag will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Roman controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Jag forces Roman back against the cage and clinches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Jag is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Roman is defending well for now. Roman lands on the inside with an uppercut. Roman is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Roman lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Jag wants to break the clinch but can't.

Roman crunches a lovely knee into Jag's ribcage. Jag can't break the clinch.
Roman lands with a right to the head. Roman throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Jags head. Roman lands a body shot. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gaudencio Roman dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!

Jag clinches up against the cage. Jag tries to land a knee to the head but Roman blocks with his arms.

Roman blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Roman drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jag gets the underhooks and prevents it.

That's one minute gone in the round. Roman lands a leg kick that knocks Jag off balance momentarily. Jaromir Jag is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Roman tries to keep at a distance but Jag has taken the fight into the clinch. Roman misses with a knee to the head. Jag creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Roman missing with knees to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Roman unloads a knee to the mid-section. A shot in the inside from Roman. Roman on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Jag taking a breather. Roman lands a nice uppercut. Roman lands a right hand that snaps the head of Jag backwards. This has been an exciting period of action! Roman lands a left hand that snaps the head of Jag backwards. Roman lands with a short head shot on the inside. Gaudencio Roman seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. Roman misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Jag.
Jag looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jag tries a body shot but Roman blocks it.
Roman lands a body punch in the clinch. Jag breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Jag takes the fight into the clinch. A short right from Roman. Roman is working Jag over against the cage. Roman blocks the elbow strike.

Roman lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Jag backwards. Roman lands a damaging elbow.
It looks like Jaromir Jag has been cut. Roman scores with a shot to the side of Jag's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Roman utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Roman throws a knee to the head but misses.
Jag is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Roman is keeping busy. A right hook to the body lands for Roman.
Roman has Jag pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Jag manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Roman leaning against his opponent.
Jag takes a shot to the head. Roman avoiding damage as Jag throws knees to the body.

Gaudencio Roman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Jaromir Jag's cut. That's time! Jag's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Jag closes the distance and clinches. Jag doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Roman is trying to pull guard but Jag turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Roman lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Jag backwards. Roman lands a hook to the side of the head. Roman works on Jag's body with a couple of short punches. A nice right hand lands inside from Roman. Roman tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Roman lands with a left to the head. Roman scores with an uppercut up the middle. Jag using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Roman has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Roman lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Jag backwards. Jag tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Roman avoids it. Roman jumps into guard, dragging Jag to the mat.
Roman is working an open guard so Jag takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Jag instigates a clinch. Roman throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Jags head. Roman lands a left hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Roman goes for a takedown attempt but Jag pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Roman scores with a jab to the body. Roman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Jag appears to be looking for a big counter. Jag avoids the body shot from Roman.
Jag seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Jag gets in close and instigates a clinch. Roman lands with a right to the head. Roman throws a knee to the head but misses.

Jag is trying to break the clinch but Roman has him pressed against the cage. Jag wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Roman tries to land knees in the clinch but Jag avoids the damage to the body. A short right hand to the side of the head by Roman. Roman has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roman turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Jag wants to get back to his feet but Roman drags him back down. Roman in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Roman working the head and body with strikes. Jag wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Roman is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jag knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Jag is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Roman asserts his dominance and retains side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Roman working the head with strikes. Roman is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Jag will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jag is trying to buck Roman off. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jag is letting Roman control him for a moment. Gaudencio Roman is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Jag wants to get back to his feet but Roman drags him back down.
And that's the end of the fight! Gaudencio Roman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Roman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
