The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Damme pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Despite the aggression on Ribiero's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Ribiero shoots in looking for a takedown but Van Damme manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ribiero's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Van Damme definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Ribiero blocks the body kick.
Ribiero scores with a takedown into Van Damme's guard.
Van Damme pushes Ribiero off and gets back to his feet.
Ribiero darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Van Damme wants to improve his position but Ribiero is controlling well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Ribiero looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Van Damme is fending him off so far but Ribiero persists. Nope, Van Damme circles away and we're back to standing.
Van Damme rushes Ribiero and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Van Damme's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Ribiero changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Ribiero gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Van Damme counters with a series of strikes. Ribiero will be more careful next time no doubt.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Ribiero throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Van Damme's waist but Van Damme gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ribiero off to one side.

Ribiero closes the distance and clinches up with Van Damme, looking for a takedown. Ribiero pushes Van Damme against the cage but Van Damme circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Van Damme counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Ribiero is lucky that one didn't land flush.
