The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Martinez dives in and grabs Banicki 's left leg, looking for a takedown. Banicki pushes down on Martinez's head and hops out.

Banicki tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Martinez defends well and Banicki ends up having to push Martinez into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Banicki goes for a double leg but Martinez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Martinez continues to drive forward.
Martinez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Banicki tries to avoid it but Martinez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Banicki to the ground. Banicki escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Horrible takedown attempt by Banicki or perhaps it was just good defense by Martinez, which made it look bad.
Martinez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Banicki 's waist but Banicki gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Martinez off to one side.
Martinez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Banicki sprawls well. Banicki wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Martinez gets slowly back to his feet.
