Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Edison Arantes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mario Silva! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Arantes shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Silva napping and manages to drive through into side control! Silva looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Silva can't do much from the bottom here. Silva is trying to work for a sweep but Arantes has mounted him! Silva looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. I would not like to be Silva right now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva wants to get back to his feet. Arantes really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Silva.

He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Silva for as long as he can get away with. Silva trying to control the action but Arantes just sinks the hooks in. Arantes is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Arantes drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Arantes stays in close to Silva's body and controls the position. Silva looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Silva! But no joy. Arantes closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Silva is trying to escape back to his feet but Arantes uses the scramble to pass into side control.
