Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cain Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ardian Kurniawan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes to the cage accompanied by Hell's Bells- AC/DC. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cain Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ardian Kurniawan!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Roberts and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Jones lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Kurniawan is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Jones.
Kurniawan has a takedown stuffed.
Jones falls off balance throwing a combination

and Kurniawan counters with a single leg into guard. Jones didn't expect that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kurniawan tries to free his leg and advance position but Jones is retaining full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jones is on top in guard.

Jones has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Jones wants to pass the guard but Kurniawan is keeping the position.
Kurniawan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jones controls the pace.

Kurniawan lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Kurniawan stands and throws Jones's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Kurniawan tries to move to full mount but Jones actually manages to regain half guard.
Kurniawan prevents Jones from improving his position.
Kurniawan wants to pass to mount but Jones is defending the position.

Kurniawan is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jones doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kurniawan.

Kurniawan tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jones knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones is defending against the submission attempts here by Kurniawan.
Kurniawan trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom.
Kurniawan uses his free foot to push down on Jones's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jones.
Jones tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Kurniawan wants to control the pace but Jones is squirming around nicely.
Jones bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Kurniawan tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kurniawan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard.

Jones wants to stand up but Kurniawan is controlling him.

Jones can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kurniawan controls the pace.

Kurniawan slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Jones is looking to stand up but Kurniawan isn't so interested in that idea.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kurniawan trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Cain Jones will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Jones will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Kurniawan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Jones has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Kurniawan is on him like a limpet, forcing Jones back against the cage.
Kurniawan drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jones gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Jones wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kurniawan has him pressed against the cage.
Kurniawan is trying to drag Jones to the mat but Jones just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Kurniawan is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Jones pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Cain Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ardian Kurniawan.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones can't break the clinch.

Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jones leaves Kurniawan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jones is looking for a counter combo.
Kurniawan dodges the punch combination from Jones.
Kurniawan takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Kurniawan tries for a takedown but Jones sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kurniawan shoots in looking for a takedown. Jones tries to sprawl out of it but Kurniawan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jones manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jones moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
No joy there for Jones, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kurniawan shoots for a takedown but Jones saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jones bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kurniawan's head backwards.
Jones stalks Kurniawan and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kurniawan's face. Kurniawan staggers backwards, shaken.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kurniawan closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jones did well to prevent Kurniawan getting side control.

Jones makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Jones throws a series of strikes that have Kurniawan backpedaling.
Jones throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Cain Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sloppy strikes from Jones. Those never looked like landing.
Kurniawan fails with the takedown
and Jones counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Jones tries to bum rush Kurniawan with a series of wild strikes but Kurniawan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Kurniawan is breathing heavily.
Jones scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


Kurniawan is rocked!
Jones plants his feet and throws a brutal three punch combo that sends Kurniawan swiftly into unconsciousness! Right, left, right! Boom, boom, boom! Kurniawan face plants, battered and bloodied! He might never be the same again after that finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Cain Jones!
A very excited looking Cain Jones made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
