Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Carlos Machado! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, The Uppertaker! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Santiago Holmes and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Machado tries to sprawl but Uppertaker drives through with a takedown into half guard. Uppertaker has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at RCJ Machado Jiu-Jitsu. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Machado might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Uppertaker is trying to control the action in half guard but Machado is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Machado slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Machado pulls Uppertaker in close to prevent any damage. Machado continues to stall. Machado seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Machado working for a triangle but Uppertaker defends it easily.
Uppertaker trying to control but Machado is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Machado is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Uppertaker has his hands clasped together but Machado extends and breaks Uppertaker's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Machado.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Carlos Machado! Carlos Machado tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
