The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Ren Mimura and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De La Cruz fails with an attempt to clinch.
Quanero ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

De La Cruz throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Quanero was covering up waiting for the punch and De La Cruz finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Quanero wants to stand up but De La Cruz is controlling him.

Quanero wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

De La Cruz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Quanero has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, De La Cruz has managed to get both his arms back between Quanero's legs - danger averted.

Quanero lands a decent elbow from side control.
Quanero is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt De La Cruz will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Quanero is looking to take a break and control but De La Cruz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

De La Cruz wants to control but Quanero postures up.

Quanero wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by De La Cruz, who protects the arm well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Quanero is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. De La Cruz knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Quanero in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Quanero wants to control but De La Cruz is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Julio Quanero dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


De La Cruz takes a swing at Quanero's ribcage but misses.
De La Cruz shoots in and drives through. Quanero sprawls well.
De La Cruz fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
De La Cruz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Quanero cracks De La Cruz on the jaw with a powerful right hand and De La Cruz falls backwards against the cage. Quanero follows up with more strikes that drop De La Cruz to his knees. Quanero keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save De La Cruz! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Julio Quanero!
A relieved looking Julio Quanero thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
