The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Head is fending him off so far but Smith persists. Nope, Head circles away and we're back to standing.
Nice sprawl there from Head as Smith shoots in.
Head wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Smith tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Head swivels and escapes.
Head half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Stuart Head has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gary Smith.
Head wants to clinch
and Smith makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Smith looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Smith tries for a takedown but Head sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Head changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Head circles away from the clinch attempt.
Head was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Smith shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Head's guard.
Head is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Smith rolls with it to try and escape but Head cranks on the arm and Smith is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
