Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Simon Strange (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Will Tickel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Will Tickel will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Simon Strange! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Will Tickel! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Strange tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Tickel was well out of range. Poor timing from Strange. Tickel misses with a wild combination.
A looping hook to the body misses from Strange. Tickel does a little dance to reset his feet. A swing and a miss from Tickel. Strange throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Tickel sees it coming and avoids it easily. Strange moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Tickel shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Strange tries to roll over but Tickel keeps him under control. Strange blocking the ground and pound attempt from Tickel. Strange avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Tickel. Strange avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Tickel. Tickel has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's one minute gone in the round. Strange keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Tickel is trying to work for a kimura but Strange is defending well.
Tickel is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Tickel looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Strange is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Tickel is keen to just control but Strange is a slippery customer. Tickel trying to control from Strange's half guard. Strange has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Tickel pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Strange is keeping the position for now. Strange has his foot on Tickel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tickel works his way back into a safe position though. Tickel tries to free his leg and advance position but Strange is retaining full guard. Tickel pushing down on Strange's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Strange is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Mello MMA, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Strange regains full guard. Nicely done. Tickel trying to control the position from guard on top but Strange is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Strange avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Strange is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Tickel is aware though and is defending well. Tickel trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Tickel wants to control from the top but Strange keeps moving. Tickel might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Strange haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Strange is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Strange might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Strange working for a triangle but Tickel defends it easily.
Tickel wants to control from the top but Strange keeps moving.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Tickel fails with a takedown attempt. Tickel misses with a takedown attempt and Strange counters with a nice uppercut. Strange swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Tickel is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Tickel shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Strange sprawls well. Strange wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Tickel gets slowly back to his feet. Strange appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Simon Strange has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Will Tickel. Strange throws the left hand but Tickel avoids the punch easily. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Tickel shoots for a takedown but Strange saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Strange ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tickel moves away. Strange ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tickel moves away. Strange connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Simon Strange will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Tickel feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Stranges jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Tickel looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Strange is fending him off so far but Tickel persists. Nope, Strange circles away and we're back to standing. Strange is looking to wear down Tickel with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Strange throws a combination. Tickel tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Tickel blocks a leg kick. Tickel slips a jab from Strange. Strange lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Tickel backs up against the cage.
Strange throws a push kick but Tickel slaps the foot to one side. Tickel blocks a jab. Tickel changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Tickel shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Strange but Strange pushes him off and we're back to square one. It looked like Strange was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Strange throws a wild body kick that Tickel sees coming a mile off. Strange is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tickel can do to turn this around? Tickel misses with a takedown attempt - Strange sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Simon Strange has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Will Tickel. Strange feints a jab promting Tickel to slip. Strange then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Tickel slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. This has been an exciting period of action! Tickel takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Strange throws out a loose jab but Tickel uses good head movement to avoid it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Strange swings away with a leg kick that misses. Tickel takes a body punch but keeps moving. Tickel shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Strange defends it nicely. An attempted straight right counter from Strange misses the target. Strange defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Tickel. Simon Strange is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Tickel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Tickel forces his way into half guard. Tickel is pressing down on Strange's thigh, looking to free his foot. Strange is holding on for now. Tickel is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Strange defends it well. Strange slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tickel landing some decent shots from guard. Tickel missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Tickel trying to control the position from guard on top but Strange is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Strange pushes a forearm under Tickel's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Tickel is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
