PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Emmitt Landry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pepa Kolisko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pepa Kolisko will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Emmitt Landry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Pepa Kolisko!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, William Gold and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kolisko shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kolisko showed some decent athleticism there.

Kolisko is working for a submission of some sort.
Kolisko wants to control but Landry is keeping him busy.
Landry is trying to maintain the position but Kolisko is very close to passing his half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Landry is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kolisko wants to control from the top but Landry keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Kolisko tries to clinch but Landry moves out of range.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Kolisko shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Landry napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Landry is looking to get back to his feet here but Kolisko is keeping cool and he's managed to take Landry's back.
Kolisko misses with a punch to the head.
Landry rolls, trying to escape but Kolisko keeps control of the position.
Kolisko controlling the position well here. Landry rolled but Kolisko kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Kolisko is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Landry has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Kolisko doesn't have the hooks in and Landry manages to turn into his guard.
Landry stays in close to Kolisko's body and controls the position.
Landry throws a big elbow that misses.
Kolisko looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Landry puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Kolisko is looking to escape.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Landry is thwarting Kolisko's attempts to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Emmitt Landry will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Landry went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Kolisko shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Kolisko wants to take a breather but Landry is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kolisko is stalling here. Landry is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Kolisko seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Landry has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Landry wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kolisko, who protects the arm well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kolisko can't do much from the bottom here.

Kolisko is trying to get back to half guard.

Landry stands up.

Kolisko gets the takedown into side control.
Landry is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Landry is pressing down on Kolisko's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Landry is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Landry decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Landry changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kolisko tries to avoid it but Landry manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kolisko to the ground. Kolisko escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Landry gets tackled into the cage by Kolisko. Kolisko maintains the clinch.

Landry's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kolisko manages to pull guard.
Landry engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Landry thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Landry is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Kolisko is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Landry controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Landry is looking to stand up but Kolisko won't let him.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kolisko looks to clinch
and Landry counters with a three punch combo that has Kolisko backing up. Kolisko nods at Landry to acknowledge the strikes.

Kolisko gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Kolisko has Landry pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Kolisko pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Landry tumbling to the mat - Kolisko dives into Landry's guard.

Landry has his feet on Kolisko's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Pepa Kolisko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kolisko is breathing heavily.

Kolisko shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Landry is trying to defend but Kolisko finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Landry kicks Kolisko off and gets back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Landry tries to sprawl but Kolisko drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Kolisko is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Landry still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Landry has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Emmitt Landry overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Landry looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Kolisko is trying desperately to improve position.

Landry has control of Kolisko's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kolisko regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Landry with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Landry tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Kolisko tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kolisko tries to hold on but Landry postures up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Landry controlling the position easily from mount.
Landry scoring with strikes but Kolisko is staying in there.
Kolisko tries to buck Landry off but he can't manage it.
Landry is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kolisko can do to turn this around?

Emmitt Landry showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Landry, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
